I'm going to define some variables, give you the plugged in formulas, and then give you the formulas by variables: Variable definitions: Group 1 n = N1 Group 2 n = N2 Group 1 mean = M1 Group 2 mean = M2 Group 1 StdDev = S1 Group 2 StdDev = S2 First calculate the T-score: = (60-63)/SQRT(((13^2)/1500)+((13^2)/500)) = (M1 - M2) / SQRT(((S1^2 / N1) + ((S2^2) / N2)) Next, calculate the degrees of freedom. The formula is a bit complicated, but it's basically: df = X / (Y1 + Y2) Where X = (((13^2)/1500)+((13^2)/500))^2 = (((S1^2) / N1) + ((S2^2) / N2))^2 Y1 = ((1/(1500-1))*((13^2)/(1500^2))) = ((1 / (N1 - 1)) * ((S1^2) / (N1^2))) Y2 = (1/(500-1))*(((13^2)/500)^2) = ((1 / N2 - 1)) * (((S2^2) / N2)^2) You should get 886.917 for degrees of freedom Then the excel formula to run is TDIST, or one of the variants depending on your version of excel and if you care about compatibility. Two tailed p-value is about 8.88E-0.6. You may have to put a negative sign in front of the T-score that goes into the formula b/c excel is stupid and will choke on a negative number I think the formulas should basically be droppable into excel with you tweaking the values accordingly but hope you can follow the explanation in case reddit's formatting broke them More on reddit.com

Right click on a data point and click Add Trendline. Right click on the trendline and click Format Trendline. A window should pop up that allows you to customize the line including adding the equation of the line and the R-squared value for the line. I believe what you are after is the R-squared value.

Hi, can someone please help me with the correct formula for P Values? Here is what I am working with:
X-bar is 28.6% and sample of 40 therefore;
z=-1.58= p(z<-1.58) with a d.f. of 39.
I've tried T.DIST.RT but it doesn't seem to provide the correct output. The answer is 0.0571, but I am not sure how to get there?
