Traffic ticket not in system
This happened to me about three years ago on Highway 101in San Mateo, with CHP. I kept checking the San Mateo County court website for the ticket and it never showed. I called them on the phone, and just like in your case they said there’s nothing they can do until it shows up. I’ve been checking once a month or so ever since and it’s still not showed up three years later. So I guess the cop lost it, or threw it away. Score one for us! More on reddit.com

How to Check If You Have Outstanding Traffic Tickets in California - Southwest Legal
September 9, 2025 - Most county courts in California have online tools that allow you to search for traffic tickets using your name, driver’s license number, or citation number. This is one of the quickest ways to find out if you have any outstanding tickets. You’ll need to know which county the ticket was issued in, as each county’s system is separate. If you’re not sure where the ticket came from, start by searching in counties where you most frequently drive, commute, or have been pulled over in the past.

If you had insurance at the time you received your ticket, you can show the clerk (either online, in person, or by mail). For more information, visit the General Information section and select the "How Do I Take Care of Insurance Violations?" and "How Do I Reserve a Court Date?" If you were cited for California Vehicle Code section 12951 and you had a valid driver’s license at the time you received your ticket, you can show the clerk your license, either in person or a copy by mail or online.

March 29, 2023 -

Received a traffic ticket 2/1/23 and on the notice I have a date to appear in court 3/30/23.

I have been checking online and the ticket is not in the system yet. I called the county clerk and she said since the ticket is not in there's nothing they can do.

Now, she said I can go tomorrow to court but it will not make any difference if the ticket is not in yet. All they would do is give ma paper saying "no record found" and that's just for my peace of mind she said. Once they get the ticket in the system a new court date will be generated and that's what I have to go by.

Is this true? I'd rather not go to court if i dont have to since is a veeeery long commute and of course I have to work in the morning. But, I want to make sure i dont get in trouble because of it either.

Ticket is for going 15 over the speed limit. Im in san diego county.
