For a smokeless burn, you *don't* want fresh/cool air intake near the top. You want the fresh/cool air intake at the base, so that by the time the air reaches the holes, it is hot enough to reignite the unspent fuel (smoke). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqF4-zG0W3o I think you can fix it by taking out the bricks that prop up the metal ring above the pavers. We just installed pavers in our backyard and were given a “free fire pit” by our contractor. As you can see it’s just stacked pavers on top of pavers. Before I start lighting fires in it what do I need? I’ve seen videos on removing lower bricks and putting an insert in with holes drilled along the top to make it smokeless but what about the base? What else am I missing here? Lava rocks? A base? Am I overthinking or under thinking this? Any and all advice is welcome and THANK YOU in advance for the help!
