I don't know how quickly they update the camera documentation, if its updated maybe there is something else you need to enable for it to work. Also, was your flash in TTL or M mode? It may only work if the flash is in TTL mode (which I never use). Just making guesses here. More on reddit.com

I would bet good money that there WON'T be any significant firmware updates to the R6 II now that the R6 III is released. But that's okay. I think the R6 II is still a viable option for many. Heck, I'm using the R6 Classic and I still find it more than enough for my use. More on reddit.com

As it has been with everything else, including cameras... one should always install current firmware updates. It also resolves problems one may not even know about. Of course, you don't have to. I just got an email for new firmware update for R6 II with #5 as the reason why I wanted to upgrade. I thought this would fix the issue of the camera disabling simulated exposure when a flash is attached. I updated firmware, checked the simulated exposure settings and nothing's changed and the camera still does the same thing. I guess #5 is useless still?

The EOS R6 Mark III was just announced, bringing upgrades like a 32MP sensor and advanced video tools. The Mark II is still solid, but of course lacks some of these enhancements.
Do you think Canon will release a firmware update for the Mark II to include select new features (e.g., C-Log 2 profile for better color matching across cameras)? It would help keep the lineup cohesive without forcing immediate upgrades.
Or will they reserve everything for the Mark III to encourage switching?

The answer to that question is easy - NO. Canon have a very long history of not adding any beneficial functionality via firmware - in fact the last one remove functionality for some models.
