I (23M) am looking to get my first credit card but don’t know where to begin. I just finished applying for a Bank of America travel rewards card (because I travel abroad frequently and am with BOA) but I don’t know if that’s an easy one to get as a first credit card. I would prefer something with zero annual fees and zero foreign transaction fees. Would appreciate any advice!

Capital One is a good place to start and none of their cards have foreign transaction fees. Many of their cards also have no annual fees as well.

Hello! I am a recent graduate who has never owned a credit card and has used a debit card my whole life. I want to get a credit card now but I honestly lack a lot of knowledge when it comes to credit cards and am having trouble deciding which one I should start with. Try for unsecured options first (requires no deposit): the Chase Freedom Rise, Discover IT, or C1 Platinum. No to Petal and Opensky as they are predatory lenders. If unsuccessful, then try for the secured options: U.S Bank or Discover IT secured. For C1 and Discover, use the pre-approval tools to gauge your approval odds.

Stick to Discover and Capital One. They have good secured cards, but more importantly they have pre-approval applications, so you know which card you are likely to be approved for before going all the way through the application and getting hit with the hard credit pull.
