Just a heads-up for anyone considering buying flooring from Floor & Decor. Their products are not what they claim, and they absolutely refuse to stand by their so-called โquality.โ
I purchased the Optimax Sapelo Shore planks in november 2024 because they were advertised as โextremely durableโ with โextreme scratchโ โ the sales staff, the packaging, and even the in-store displays all pushed this claim. Unfortunately, after only a few months, my floors started showing serious damage. Including dents and scratches from everyday things like a dropped pen or a TV remote. Corners of the floor continue chipping away from just walking on them I suppose. For a product marketed as scratch-, dent-, and gouge-resistant, this is beyond disappointing.
When I reached out to Floor & Decor, they refused to take responsibility and closed my case without attempting to follow their warranty protocol and send someone to my house to inspect. Their reasoning? I had already installed the flooring. But how else are you supposed to judge durability until you actually live with it?
Additionally โ their own store display is falling apart too. The floor model of the floor I purchased back in October was in pristine quality, and within a few months, it is now visibly deteriorating. No foot traffic, no pets, no kids โ just mounted there on the wall, and itโs already breaking down. That tells you everything you need to know.
A quick search on the Better Business Bureau shows they have a D- rating and 1.3 stars. Wanting to spread the word in hopes I can prevent someone else from choosing flooring from this retailer.
In the recent months, I have seen other posts with people with similar issues and wish I had known this sooner. This houzz thread being one of them: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6110154/optimax-eco-resilient-flooring
If youโre considering flooring from Floor & Decor, please reconsider. We are out over $10,000, and I wouldnโt wish this experience on anyone.
