The tile combo looked better in my head but seeing it together in person in the shower now I can’t tell if I love it or not. What are your thoughts?

Shower Floor Tiles | TileBar.com
When it comes to shower floors, the best tiles are those that combine safety, durability, and style. Porcelain and ceramic tiles are top choices due to their water resistance and ease of maintenance. For a more luxurious look, natural stone tiles like marble or granite can be used, though they ...

Shower floor tile vs bathroom floor tile
With this one I did a solid charcoal quartz backsplash (they come in 6") cut it to fit the curb, and then used the larger floor tile for the other side. in your case I'd use the same white quartz since you don't have large enough white tiles. You see on this one where they used the white quartz on the curb? down the sides too, and the bench. you can also use it in the niche · On my own bathroom shower I used the marble floor tiles on the side, continuing w/the herringbone design, and a solid piece of carrara on top.

Create a line connecting these points. The intersection of the two lines marks the center point of the shower floor. Check that lines are square by using a framing square and adjust as needed. If you are using border tiles or decorative accent tiles, measure and mark lines to indicate these areas.

r/Renovations on Reddit: Is the placement of the shower floor tiles as bad as I think it is?

Wall tile, shower floor tile, and bathroom floor tile selected. The 2nd and third photos show the variations in the shower floor tile color and the placement which is an eyesore to me:(

Its really bizarre. the sample you showed on the first pic only looks like about 10% of the floor tile. The weird thing is that this doesn't even seem like the mistake of the tile layer. They could have made an attempt to space them out, but I think it still would have looked weird, because they come together in a larger section, right? The real issue is the clustering of very similar mini tiles in one "section", if you know what I mean. Its like the tile manufacturer didnt do a good job making sure the tiles were more random. Heck, typically when you buy those types of tiles, the issue is usually that the pattern is identical on all of the segments and you get an obvious patterned look. Really bizarre. Whenever I use those kinds of tiles, I always recommend placing them "dry" as a demo and rearranging them to work. But I think in this case you would have discovered that nothing worked, and would have returned the tiles.

The tile work itself looks ok. What's terrible is the absolute buffet of generic but distractingly different marble and hexagonal patterns. Those patterns and shapes are meant to create a simple uniformity that's spiced with mild variation. What's going on now is like 18 different 'simples' that make the overall patterns exceptionally complicated and not in a pleasing way - it's just chaotic.

I’m wondering what to expect from using their services. Having a hard time figuring out how to find a contractor myself. I’m looking for a bit more high end work but not sure who is worth hiring.

I’ve bought tile from them and installed it myself. Looks great, got the tile on clearance. 10/10 If you are at all able, just do it yourself. I’m not sure I’d hire a contractor through floor & decor though … I’d go off of referral, especially for higher end work. You want someone that owns their own business, has been doing it for years, and has a good reputation.

They sub it out. My experience in CT. They had 6 contractors call me within an hour to come price it out. The up-charge is insane. One of the guys offered to do it off the record for 25% of what he would have had to charge me through floor & decor. I was so turned off by the entire process with them. I found someone on Angie’s list. Did a great job on ceramic tile, for a fair price! Good luck
