I have a lot of issues with recommending tile to clients when I’m not sure how or where it was sourced. For that reason I typically try to stay away from companies whose product manufacturers are difficult to track down. I’m frequently asked about Floor & Decor tile “brands” and the quality of a given product the client finds online. All of F&D’s tile brands are just trademark entities owned by F&D… from what I understand about trademark law (very little) and the company’s manufacturing structure, I doubt the “brand” products are sourced from a single location/manufacturer. So one brand could actually have 60 different products manufactured in 40 different locations.
While frustrating, I can see the business sense in it- but because no one else sells their tile it’s near impossible to find where things were manufactured or under what ethical standards. If pressed, I tell my clients that product quality can’t be assessed without multiple samples on hand (as with any tile purchased online), and that the “deals” provided by F&D aren’t as great as advertised with context. I wouldn’t mind any of this nearly as much if they allowed reviews/images to be uploaded but they don’t. Is this something that can be worked around or side stepped in any way? I don’t think it’s asking for much to ask for better quality assurance when they’re making a profit on manufacturing AND distributing.
They advertise “warehouse prices” but craftily hide that they’re their own suppliers. Drives me nuts. Does anyone have further insight on this? I can’t seem to find anything online that doesn’t take me into an aggressive amount of legal paperwork.😡 F&D Trademark/Patent Filings
🚨 Beware of Floor & Decor
Floor & Decor vs. The Tile Shop?
Does Flooranddecor.com sell decent brands of tile? Our builder requires we select all tile from there & the prices seem very low compared to what we paid for tile 10 years ago- not sure if F&D is low quality, if we were ripped off 10 years ago, or if we just bought premium tile then (Daltile). Thx!

Just a heads-up for anyone considering buying flooring from Floor & Decor. Their products are not what they claim, and they absolutely refuse to stand by their so-called “quality.”
I purchased the Optimax Sapelo Shore planks in november 2024 because they were advertised as “extremely durable” with “extreme scratch” — the sales staff, the packaging, and even the in-store displays all pushed this claim. Unfortunately, after only a few months, my floors started showing serious damage. Including dents and scratches from everyday things like a dropped pen or a TV remote. Corners of the floor continue chipping away from just walking on them I suppose. For a product marketed as scratch-, dent-, and gouge-resistant, this is beyond disappointing.
When I reached out to Floor & Decor, they refused to take responsibility and closed my case without attempting to follow their warranty protocol and send someone to my house to inspect. Their reasoning? I had already installed the flooring. But how else are you supposed to judge durability until you actually live with it?
Additionally — their own store display is falling apart too. The floor model of the floor I purchased back in October was in pristine quality, and within a few months, it is now visibly deteriorating. No foot traffic, no pets, no kids — just mounted there on the wall, and it’s already breaking down. That tells you everything you need to know.
A quick search on the Better Business Bureau shows they have a D- rating and 1.3 stars. Wanting to spread the word in hopes I can prevent someone else from choosing flooring from this retailer.
In the recent months, I have seen other posts with people with similar issues and wish I had known this sooner. This houzz thread being one of them: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6110154/optimax-eco-resilient-flooring
If you’re considering flooring from Floor & Decor, please reconsider. We are out over $10,000, and I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
I'm looking for tile for bathroom floors/shower. I started my search with The Tile Shop since we have a local store/showroom but decided to look into Floor & Decor since we bought our hardwood floors from there. I am appalled by the price difference. For nearly identical tiles, the one from Floor & Decor is only $1.39/sqft, whereas the one from The Tile Shop is $6.69/sqft. The Tile Shop is nearly 5x more expensive! Same style, same material. Is this entirely attributable to quality? If so, is the quality so bad that I should steer clear of Floor & Decor tiles?
