When do you think reverse retro jerseys will come out?
A Fans Guide To Panthers Jerseys
Jersey authenticity
Some of my vintage panthers Gear!
That wind breaker is dope.
More on reddit.comMy wife really wants one but I assume it’ll be a while.
Hey Cats
With our fandom growing a lot I figured I would make a guide to acquiring panthers jerseys.
Basics
Many companies have made panthers jerseys over the past 30+ years but I’ll focus on the most recent 3 : fanatics , adidas and Reebok.
Fanatics makes three tiers : breakaway ( thinner replica jersey , no stitched logo ) premium ( stitched logo , similar to on ice material ) and authentic pro ( made in Canada , same as players on ice )
Adidas made authentics available to the public and MiC ( made in Canada) which were team issued only.
Reebok made replica and authentic made in Canada.
Sizing ( not addressing made in Canada because it really depends )
Fanatics and adidas premium / authentic have similar sizing using a numbers system , with size 50 being medium and having bigger and smaller sizes. Both the fanatics and adidas fit almost identically. The breakaways operate on small / medium / large etc
When buying an authentic/ premium you should typically go true to size, they will be roomy and not super tight which is how they are designed. If you wear a hoodie, size up one size.
Reebok sizing operates on S/M/L etc and are roomy.
Pricing
( Fanatics) Fanatics breakaways tend to me worth a let less and I rarely see them for sale but outside of new ones you shouldn’t spend more than 50-60 on used one
Premium
Premiums typically sell for 225+ new and since they are new to the market their used price is typically the same. Don’t overpay since some online second hand retailers will try and sell you a 225 jersey for 300+. Check online first to see if it’s available. Player customization will cost more.
Authentic pro
The made in Canada ones cost 450-500 depending on customization. This is about their resale value.
( Adidas)
Authentic
A used blank home panthers jersey was recently for sale on nhl shop for about 80. A good resale used deal is 60-80 and 100-200 for player customized jersey. Hand stitched jerseys will cost more !
White away jerseys are a lot rarer and don’t pop up too often so the market really dictates the price.
MiC
Since made in Canada team issued jerseys were not for public sale the prices can vary wildly.
Reverse retro 1.0
Reverse retro 1.0s are exceedingly rare. An authentic will go for 400-600 and a MiC over 1000
Reverse retro 2.0
Reverse retro 2.0s go for anywhere from 200-600.
(Reebok)
Reebok jerseys vary in price but it seems the market dictates at least 100 after the 2 cup wins.
*Tips *
-
ALWAYS check authenticity when purchasing on sites like eBay / poshmark / Mercari etc. There are a LOT of fakes out there. You can use the hockey jerseys subreddit to do a legit check.
-
Authentic stitched Reverse retro jerseys were ONLY made by adidas. I see countless reverse retros at games with fanatics logos. You will over pay for a fake jersey worth 40! Fanatics made breakaways but not premium.
-
When in doubt , if it’s too good to be true it’s probably fake.
-
Don’t buy a * signed * item unless you have a certificate of authenticity.
-
Make sure the player matches the jersey era. Brad Marchand never wore an adidas panthers jersey and Tkachuk never wore a Reebok panthers jersey and so on.
Edit : fanatics made breakaway RRs but not premium.
