This summer has been hot and comparably dry (compared to other years). I had to have a tree removed (thanks to code enforcement) and now everything that I have tried to put around that area has been burnt to a crisp or I had to move in the shade because it just hates the sun. I’ve tried firebush, wild coffee, and black-eyed susan (died after 2-3 days). I really thought that the wild coffee was dead, but the shade brought it back to life in about 2 days. It looks to be thriving now. I’m only looking at plants that are native to Florida, and plus points if it is edible. Thanks in advance!
I’ve been landscaping in Central Florida for a while now, and I'm trying to incorporate more native plants to reduce maintenance and water use. I know some classics like Saw Palmetto and Coontie, but I'm looking for more ideas.
Any favorites that hold up well in the heat and don’t need constant watering?
