Hello. I've recently downloaded the flow plugin on my after effects 2022 on my Mac. I followed some tutorial showing that I need to change some code or something. So I did that and the flow plugin popped up in the extension tab. However, when I press it, the window that's supposed to show up doesn't pop up. Please help me asap.

i was just wondering, to anyone who has the flow extension (the chart thing) do you still have to also graph within the graph editor or just the flow chart? sorry if this doesn’t make sense. i was thinking of purchasing it.

One big difference is that Flow only ever lets you see and work with one curve at a time. You can specify an easing and apply it to a lot of keyframes, but the view is always only between two keyframes, going from 0 to 1. In the graph editor, you have a much bigger-picture view of your animation, especially as the value graph shows the actual values of the keyframes. This means you can see how each curve relates to the next one, both in timing and value. +1 to learning the graph editor first before buying third-party tools, but Flow does make it super easy and fast to work with once you understand what it's doing (and lets you save / share curves 😉)

No matter what, you should learn to use the graph editor in and out. I use the Motion 3 plugin to do some things quickly and set a quick curve, but almost always hAve to go in and tweak it to make it just what I want. AFAIK? Flow is more for sequencing layers not for the curves.

I re downloaded it and installed the plug in but it still isn’t showing up. Has anyone else ran into this issue? Any ideas on how to fix it? I’ve restarted both program and computer. Everything is up to date as well

I find it better to install it with the aescripts + aeplugins own manager app. It's a cleaner way to install things. You need the latest version of Flow to work in the latest AE and their app helps you get it installed right.

Start with keyframe assistant > ease in/ease out / easy ease, and then find some tutorials on working with the graph editor. Not only is is free, you will develop some truly unique easings for yourself and your clients

Working through a large project on the side at the moment under a bit of a time crunch. I've got a lot of plugins that really help but I'm noticing specifically i'm doing a lot of timeline management and keyframe management, simple things that could be done with a click of a button.
I know we get a lot of these threads but it would be good to share the ones that are helpful for the more mundane / repetitive tasks. What I'm lacking are tools that are helpful in moving or distributing keyframes around but there are so many plugins out there I'm not sure which to choose.

Some that I already use and love, nearly all free / NYOP:

EaseCopy < my fave!
Motion Tools Pro (so much in there)
Buttcapper
Randomizer
FX Console (obviously, it should be built into AE at this point)
Comp Setter

I could make use of DUIK a bit more.

Any tried-and-tested plugins you cannot work without? :)
