Okay, so this is an interesting one - could use some help here!
When I bought my iPhone about a year ago, I was in the process of shutting down my business, including the company phone plan. Due to some weirdness, I had to get a temporary phone number, and it's this phone number (let's call it Temp_Phone_Number) that the Apple Store rep used to set up my iCloud account.
I then forgot my iCloud password (as so many of us do, right!?), and have been unable to reset the password because my iCloud account has Temp_Phone_Number attached to it, which is no longer in service - I now have my original phone number back that I used with my company. I can't change the phone number associated with my iCloud account without logging in, though, and I can't log in, because I don't remember my password. I'm stuck.
I've been on multiple customer service calls with Apple, and have gone into the store for help, and literally, nobody has been able (or willing?) to help me with this. I can't download apps onto my phone without being logged into my iCloud account, which has been so frustrating.
I understand and even appreciate that Apple has secure practices here that make this challenging, but it shouldn't be impossible, right? Does anybody know of a workaround that I haven't thought of? This is so frustrating. Thanks in advance for the help!

My husband and I recently started a new family plan that has 4 lines. One for him, one for me, one for my brother in law and one for my mother in law. My mother in law wasn’t ready to join the plan right away so we were assigned a random phone number to this 4th line. I decided to create an Apple ID for my minor daughter and use it to log on to the line and use the place holder number to create the account.
Finally, months later my mother in law decides she is ready to join our plan. She lives about 2 hours away from us so we gave her the phone during a visit and being the sloooow decision maker she is, she decided to just take the phone with her instead of us going to Apple or our carrier store to get her switched over. We finally do a 3 way call to TMobile and get her number ported over to the phone on our plan. Great!
Not so fast. My minor daughter’s Apple ID was used on the phone. I cant log out of it without a password since the account belongs to a minor. I try to reset the password and it keeps offering to send a verification code to the OLD number that we no longer have access to.
I started the account recovery process but they never called. Does my mother in law using the phone somehow cancel out the account recovery process? Do I have any other options?
I have an old 7 plus that I’ve decided to sell (downsizing) but I haven’t used it in a few years and have no idea what the Apple ID password was. So that means I can’t turn off find my to wipe it so I can sell it. I’ve tried selecting forgot password through both the settings and at iforgot.apple.com but it just sends me an OTP which I need to reset it. Problem is it sends the code to the email associated with the account which is an iCloud email and of course I can’t access the iCloud email to get the code to reset the password because I can’t sign into iCloud without the @!,$;:/ password! Am I stupid or was this system designed by a sadist? How on earth do you fix this if it seems you’re locked out at every turn?
I got signed out of all my device and I can't use my trusted phone number. I have a recovery contact but it keeps telling them i need to ask for help first. How do you do that? Or is there a was to request access from apple? I spoke on the phone but not much help other than keep trying to get a verification code when i explained that i dont have access to the numbers. What can i do? I know my password as well.
My aunt asked me to reset her iPad air 2's apple id's password but when I visited iforgot.com, it was asking me for a phone number which she couldn't remember and isn't using it anymore. She told me I may erase all data but it was still asking me for an apple id which I couldn't change without the phone number.
So is there a way I can erase all her data on her iPad without entering the apple id password or can I change her apple id password without inputting her phone number which she forgot?
Edit: she's in ios 10.2.1
I have an old iPhone that I'd like to use but need it reset. I have tried the forgot password feature but it is not successful and I do not receive the email after some time has passed even though I am given an expected date.
I have access to the email account associated but it's still not enough.
It's the first gen iPhone SE.
Thank you!
I’m locked out of my iCloud account because I forgot the password, and the problem is, I don’t have access to the phone number linked to it. I did the steps to recover my icloud, the only thing I need to do is wait for a text or phone call from Apple. It has been 5 days and I’m not receiving anything. Has anyone been in a similar situation and successfully reset their password? If so, how long did you wait?
I remember some of the 6 digits of my passcode
I have already made 4 or 5 attempts and they all failed. And finally my iphone has banned me for 3 hours.
(My muscle memory was what allowed me to enter my passcode every day).
I have seen that the only solution would be to reset my Iphone. But for that I will have to use my Icloud but here is the problem. I don't remember my icloud email. Do you know how I can find it?
I am very scared and desperate.
Hello guys, I found my iPad from my childhood back but the icloud id that was logged in was long time ago and that apple id was created by the mobile shop where my parents bought for me. How can I sign out appleID from that iPad ? Also that shop was terminally closed. Is there any opinion for me ?
Hello everyone, I recently purchased an iPhone 16 pro max to upgrade from my old 13 pro. I bought the 16 straight from the Apple Store brand new, as I was trying to set it up at home (three days ago) I realized I forgot my Apple ID password.
I’ve been on the phone with 6 separate people at Apple and cannot get a straight answer as to why they can’t just help me right away or transfer me to someone who can actually do something as I have a very expensive brick sitting in my purse. I have a trusted phone number and device (which is the 13, and I’ve called from that number).
Well it’s now and has been in account recovery for three days. I have, however, received at least 3 emails now saying that I made an account recovery request and that they’ll get back to me at a later and later date. I’m at my wits end as I don’t know what exactly I’m waiting for whether it’s an actual phone call helping me an email link so change the password or what.
I’m heavily considering just making a new iCloud account and just manually transferring everything over myself. But I also don’t know what to do, should I just make a new Apple ID, wait for the request in 3 more days, can I even go to the Apple Store? Or is there an alternative?
(No my password isn’t saved in my passkeys app, even though I use my Face ID to log into the Apple website)
Edit: I got a text and was able to change the password right away. Thank you everyone.
I quadruple checked I’m using the right password to open my phone in the recovery password and it still doesn’t work
This process is a disaster and I don't know what to do. Lost all of my contacts and my backup.
Have my "trusted number" on my new phone so I get verification text. After that step, I'm told another verification has been sent to the Apple ID address that I have forgotten the password to because I do not have access to my old phone???
How does it make sense to send an email verification code that I am trying to reset that you already know I lost the password to? I can receive verification texts and also am able to put in the pin from my old phone. No matter which way I try, it always ends up with verification code sent to Apple ID email that I cannot access. Even after I have started the recovery process, I get the notice that I will receive a message in 14 days to my Icloud account that I can't access because I need to reset my password.
What happens after 14 days and is a notification/message going to be sent to my new phone with the trusted number or am I completely SOL. I'll lose my contacts and valuable pics/video with my family among other things.
Please help!
When I try to sign out from settings it asks for password which I don't remember. iforgot.apple asks for the phone number that was used to create the account which I no longer have access to. Is there a way to bypass this?
Hi. We forgot my wife’s both Apple ID password and passcode of the iPhone.
When we tried to unlock the phone, we tried 9 times. One more time and it’ll lock itself out.
We needed to see if the photos and text messages has been saved up in iCloud. So we tried to login to her Apple ID again. She doesn’t remember it as well.
When we tried to reset the password, it asks us to put passcode of her iPhone, but we don’t remember it.
How can we solve this?
Hello,
I'm trying to help a church out. They own this iPad but a previous attendee of that church left recently under somewhat bad terms... And apparently this person was the one who took video sermons and uploaded stuff via the iPad, so the iCloud account currently on the iPad is setup by that person - and we do not have the password.
We have the login pin for the iPad because it belongs to the church, but it's unclear if this guy will help us out if we contact him for help to sign out or give us the iCloud account.
The iPad was bought by one of the elders for the church, so it's not an issue of ownership. If it really came to it, the elder who bought the iPad can *probably* dig up the receipt/proof of purchase for Apple in some way or another...
What are our options? Can I even sign out from the iCloud account on the iPad and not worry about it being iCloud locked by him in the future if he decided to be petty? Or can I reset the iPad and then use a different iCloud account on it?
