Here for my mom. She is attending her first black tie/formal event to receive an award for 30 years of hard work. She is feeling a little overwhelmed and defeated right now and doesn’t know where to start. My mom is absolutely beautiful but she has some insecurities with dressing up nice. She has neuropathy in both feet, so no heels for her, only tennis shoes, which doesn’t help the situation. She is tall and curvy and is most comfortable in modest “office-wear” clothing that she wears most days, but willing to branch out. Does anyone have recommendations on where to start? Where to find age-appropriate (60+), classy, evening wear? What fits to look for? Any advice in general is greatly appreciated.
Update one: I didn't abandon this post although I'm sure it looked like it. Big huge thanks to every single one of you who responded. I have some options now that I have purchased and still not sure which to go with. I will start a new post for your opinions and once again thank you.
Hello and I need your help please. I don't have a picture to share because I have no idea where to start. If you need to direct me to another sub, it won't hurt my feelings.
Late August wedding. Fancy Art Deco hotel in Nashville. 4:30pm followed by dinner and dancing. It is for my niece. The invitation only says formal but the website is a bit more specific. It says formal and ads that it should be floor length or cocktail.
I am 66 years old and have a tattoo on my left upper arm that I don't necessarily need to show everyone. I'm also old enough to have some not pretty moles on my back that's also don't need to show and I'm struggling finding somewhere to look.
Lulu's has been recommended so many times and I have been over and over their website but honestly it's designed for someone much younger than I am. I've also personally been to Belk and the clothing that they're selling is the same stuff I could find on Shein and Amazon. (Shein out of the question but I swear Amazon sells the same clothing at 4X the cost)
I need a Lulu's for older women.
I don't drive so mail order is my best option. Please tell me where to look for something that is mature enough for a 66-year-old. I'm not a fashionista and live just fine in my HD t-shirt and my jeans so this is a million times out of my element. As this is something I'll have on for only 4 hours, I'm also not looking in the $300 range. It's a bit out of my affordability.
Thank you.
My nephew is getting married this summer in southern United States. I need a nice dress, and unsure where to shop anymore. As in, I'd like to have my knees and upper arms covered without looking completely frumpy. TIA!
ETA: I live overseas, planning to arrive about a month before wedding. So I'm shopping online at the moment. THANK YOU for all these great suggestions!!!
