r/houseplants on Reddit: Please suggest a strongly scented, low light houseplant
August 29, 2023 -
Having seen orchids grow in their natural habitat in Brazil and I’m ceding the struggle. I’d like suggestions of a scented houseplant that would be suitable for a south-facing (southern hemisphere) bathroom

Please understand that 1) fragrance comes from flowers and 2) flowering is cyclical- there will be very long periods with no flowers and no fragrance. Some of the more strongly scented flowers would be citrus species, jasmines, gardenias, oncidium orchids- not the easiest plants. You could consider using scented foliage- you need to crush leaves to smell them but it's year round. Things like mint, herbs, the scented geraniums.
