Framer vs. Webflow: Which is best? [2025]
September 9, 2025 - It has a steeper learning curve, but there's no better platform for bringing custom website and eCommerce designs to life, and its CMS and localization features are enterprise-grade. While you can accomplish plenty with Webflow's no-code features, developers get access to even more customization. A caveat up front: the term "ease of use" here is relative. Neither Framer nor Webflow can compare with the user-friendliness of more consumer-oriented website building platforms like

Framer vs Webflow: An Expert’s Deep Dive
September 1, 2025 - Framer doesn’t have the class concept, meaning you’ll have to set things individually, which could be more time-consuming. You’ll need to create separate components in Framer for different states. For instance, if you want a button to change color on hover, Webflow allows you to do that on an individual level, whereas Framer needs you to create a different component where you’ll design the same button with a different color and then add it as a hover state.
People also ask

Is Framer better than Webflow?
Framer is better for design-first projects, quick prototyping, and small websites where visuals are the main focus. Webflow is better for complex, scalable sites that need strong CMS functionality, advanced SEO options, and more customization. The “better” choice depends on your project goals.

r/webflow on Reddit: Webflow vs. Framer & Long term thinking
March 20, 2023 -

Hi everyone,

I'm about to go all in on learning Webflow but I'm seeing a lot of excitement about Framer. My long term goal is to do freelance work.

While not perfect, it seems Webflow is the bigger and more established company and might be a safer bet for long term planning. Also Webflow seems more advanced than Framer.

What are your thoughts? Any reason to pick Framer over Webflow?

:: shrugs :: How long is a piece of string? This isn't a new debate. Squarespace vs Wix? WordPress vs Webflow? There isn't a correct answer. Both Framer and Webflow are tools. A carpenter isn't going to be limited by what sort of hammer he buys. It might dictate what sort of thing he builds, and what sort of customers he targets, but ultimately the hammer is simply the thing that drives the nail into the wall. And that's really all the platform that you choose to build your websites on is. Your "product" is the website, not the platform. Of course, choosing the right platform to build on is absolutely important. But that choice is really less about what each platform does, and more about who you are, what your business is, and what it is you ultimately want to achieve. So THAT should be your starting point. Start with your business plan. What sort of websites are you wanting to build? Who are your customers? What do they need? You start at the end. Build a profile of what it is you want your business to be. Then you make a list of all of the things you need the platform you use MUST have, and a list of things that it would be nice to have, and a list of things that you want to avoid. Then you figure out which platform best suits your needs. And go with the one that fits best, or if need be, a combination of platforms if that fits your goals better. I've just finished doing that realignment myself. I've chosen to stick with Webflow for most things, because as a platform it does most of the things I want it do really well, and most of the things that annoy me about Webflow have some sort of a work-around. The exception is ecommerce. After playing with options and looking into things rather extensively for ecommerce websites I'll either build in Shopify, Woocommerce, or Webflow depending on the specific needs of the client. It was a difficult decision. But the decision matrix I worked through made the choice much easier. Webflow simply isn't mature enough as an ecommerce platform to be able to deliver for most my clients. So I provide options. There isn't a single correct answer here. Start with your business plan. And that will guide you to the right platform for you and your business. And if down the line things change, either with the platform, your business plan, or the economic environment, you can change if you need too. Nothing is carved in stone. They are just tools.

I'm sticking with Webflow for now, but keeping my eye on Framer. My take is that Framer has made more progress on their core product in the last 12 months, while Webflow is tinkering (very slowly) with eCommerce, logic and other things. I've been frustrated with Webflow's (lack of) progress over the last year. That being said...today, March 20th, 2023, you can do a lot more in Webflow than you can in Framer. And for all of the crap that they've received for pricing changes (me included), Webflow still is offering much more for your money on their plans. You can even export projects and host elsewhere (although limitations of course), which you cannot do in Framer. You can't even export your CMS in Framer. Some of Framers limits are honestly ridiculous, like this one .
