r/books on Reddit: Where can I read books online for free??
July 8, 2021 -

I have an issue with reading and don’t really like doing it too much, so I don’t want to commit to a book and pay for it just to leave it after not even finishing half of it, plus I hardly doubt that the book that I want to read is available in any book store near me (the book is “the call of Cthulhu”)

So I want a website that has books for free online to read it and in case I don’t finish it I wouldn’t have wasted money on it

Find elsewhere

r/selfpublish on Reddit: Weekly Self-Promo and Chat Thread
April 13, 2026 -

Welcome to the weekly promotional thread! Post your promotions here, or browse through what the community's been up to this week. Think of this as a more relaxed lounge inside of the SelfPublish subreddit, where you can chat about your books, your successes, and what's been going on in your writing life.

The Rules and Suggestions of this Thread:

  • Include a description of your work. Sell it to us. Don't just put a link to your book or blog.

  • Include a link to your work in your comment. It's not helpful if we can't see it.

  • Include the price in your description (if any).

  • Do not use a URL shortener for your links! Reddit will likely automatically remove it and nobody will see your post.

  • Be nice. Reviews are always appreciated but there's a right and a wrong way to give negative feedback.

You should also consider posting your work(s) in our sister subs: r/wroteabook and r/WroteAThing. If you have ARCs to promote, you can do so in r/ARCReaders. Be sure to check each sub's rules and posting guidelines as they are strictly enforced.

Have a great week, everybody!

Book Title: Sentinel's Dilemma (Book 1 of the Sentinel Trilogy) The inhabitants of Earth must be studied carefully before we can initiate first contact. We need to understand them better. Just landing on their world and announcing "We come in peace" is a strategy for disaster. If we land in the wrong territory, our emissaries will either be killed or captured for study. If we select the right country but approach them incorrectly, we risk our safety and perhaps theirs. We need to go in carefully, find the part of Earth that best represents our values, and plan a first contact. Forging relations with the planet as a whole is out of the question. Few planets have a central authority that can speak for the entire planet, and those that do are often the type of autocratic regimes we prefer to avoid Public support among our citizens demands we first approach a nation that shares our democratic principles. A misstep in this selection will have severe political consequences and the current government will undoubtedly be voted out in the next election. To make matters more challenging, there are those among the public that believe our approach is a mistake and that we should simply annex the Earth into the Empire. A vocal minority argues for a pre-emptive strike that sends them back to the stone age before they pose a danger to our long-term security. Introducing Priestess of Fire**!** This FREE novella is a prequel to the Ladies of the Goddess series and its first book, The Lady of Mann, coming on the Blue Moon, May 31. If you love high priestess energy, epic romance, adventure, sacred rituals, and early Medieval history, this is for you!! What's it about? When her carefully ordered world begins to unravel, Maelle—high priestess of fire and second only to The Lady of Mann—must confront the one force she cannot command: her own heart. She’s sent to Ystrad Clud on two urgent missions—to heal the ailing wife of the head chieftain, Cynnet, and to secure his military support for the Isle of Mann. What should be simple diplomacy becomes dangerously complicated when she reunites with Cynnet, the man she met a decade earlier—and never forgot. Cynnet struggles between duty and desire as old passion reignites, and suspicion grows within his keep. As danger, betrayal, and sacred destiny close in, Maelle and Cynnet must decide whether their love can survive the cost of choosing each other.
