Hi Career changer into Digital Marketing & Analytics here. For digital marketing I'd recommend Google skillshop there are courses, practice spaces, mock exams and certification exams (Google ads, analytics, campaign manager, YouTube...) HubSpot Academy SeMRush All have free courses (some with certification), CXL have digital playbooks which can be really useful as well. There are quite a few decent free courses for digital marketing it really depends what you'd be interested in focusing on as to where you need to look, the above provide some really good core skills (as well as advanced and specialist skillsets if you want) and there's also things like stack adapt programmatic advertising (best to do some other advertising bits first for this one). LinkedIn Marketing solutions fundamentals and marketing strategy, Hootsuite have some free courses if social media is more of interest. For cyber security cybrary.it might be worth a look? And I'll second edx as well. For confidence, both in yourself and learning new skills as I'm not sure which you wanted advice for, don't be afraid to make mistakes, everyone does. Try and keep a journal or portfolio of your work, it will help refresh your memory and will track just how far you've come on the journey. Good luck OP! Answer from maz_11 on reddit.com

Im not sure if this is the right place for this, or the right flair. I sincerely apologize if it isn't, and if that's the case, where do I go to ask this?

I'm thinking about taking a course from Google, specifically the "Google IT Support Professional Certificate" course, and I want to hear some honest opinions/reviews of it. I'm currently a senior in high school working part-time, and am also wondering if it'd be possible to take this course with my current situation, or is it more feasible to take it after high school?

What are some foundational certifications that are free and can help me with cybersecurity and working with the cloud?

As long as it's for YOU so YOU can learn, there is a bunch out there. But PLEASE don't think they will help you with getting a job. They are usually free for a reason and employers don't care about them. There are so many post here with people, hey I got the Google certificate, looking for jobs now.... yeah no that's not how that works... in general ISc2 CC (not sure if that's still free?) resources to LEARN, not necessarily with certs. https://www.antisyphontraining.com (they have free / pay what you can classes) https://www.coursera.org/courses?query=free&skills=Cybersecurity https://www.cybrary.it/ https://tryhackme.com/ https://www.hackthebox.com/ etc

There are generally no free certifications. You might find free 'certificate of completion' but employers won't be interested in those. Now there are a bunch of different ways to skill up whether that is participating in various communities such as Simply Cyber, HackTheBox, Black HIlls Infosecurity and their associated Antisyphon training (which has pay what you can courses. As for discounted certifications (sometimes free). Microsoft will ocassionally offer free voucher certs, sometimes 50% off. Go to learn.microsoft.com and sign up. Google cloud has a "get certified program", which will offer a free certification voucher along with training. It has a waitlist but you can sign up here: https://cloud.google.com/innovators/getcertified?hl=en Foundational cert for cyber is generally considered Security+. I believe the Coursera Google security course offers a 50% off coupon for Security+? That is one way to lower the price.

Did anyone apply for the free google certification license? And if yes did you receive any follow up email? I applied and I’m wondering how long it would take to hear back. I would love to start soon so I can have it completed by the time I take my last class in July.

Thanks in advance! ... EdX and Cursoera have a whole bunch of things not just coding. I just took a mooc there about the environment. There's also stuff like economy, literature, health etc. They have an option for you to pay for a certificate but they also give out free confirmations that you completed a course, at least I know edX does.

Can I get a Job with a Google certificate??

Hello!! I (27M) currently work in Healthcare/Education. I’m a “Wellness Coach”, which is essentially an emotional counselor for kiddos at a boys & girls club, but I work for Terros Health. I run classes/programs teaching kids about their emotions and healthy lifestyles as well as being a coach if they need assistance emotionally.

I’ve worked in this field for the past 5-6 years. I love it, but it doesn’t pay the bills as you can imagine. I honestly would be happy if I could make around 75-80K.

My question is, if I started my google certification for the PM position, what’s the likelihood I could get a job?? I’ve seen mixed reviews and I really don’t want to commit to something that won’t help me.

Any advice would help! I just got married and would really like to upgrade my life essentially, for my family and myself.

Thank you so much for any advice!!

Cue someone to step in here and explain how you can get it for free and have it lead to a solution that ends up compromising your system. A good rule to learn in cybersecurity is that anything of value that is offered for free is compromised. Unless you are getting it directly from Google (through a discount or a student program) you are literally doing the very thing that causes so many of the posts here. Engage with google directly, don't go around them.

I did the Google IT Support Certificate. It wasn't bad. Information covered is basically the same as A+. Downside is the A+ certification has more weight in the industry. I don't think employers know or care about the Google IT support cert. With that being said, I don't regret doing it and I think it helped me get my current job as a HIPAA compliance officer. I also did the Google Data Analytics certificate. It was a pretty good intro to stats, excel, SQL, Tableau, and R. I wish they taught Python instead of R, but I digress. Keep in mind the course is all very surface / introductory level. It won't get you a data analytics job, but hey, you can learn enough to determine if you'd like to pursue analytics further and can add it to your resume. I can't speak to the Google Cyber security cert. I am assuming it is meant to be comparable to Sec+. Again though, the industry doesn't seem to know or care about it. CompTIA is still the gold standard. It is probably good in terms of the material taught and quality of instruction, but you might as well just get Sec+. As to which is best for you may largely depend on your major and where you'd like to be after graduation.

If you don't even know which of those three paths you're interested in, strangers.on Reddit can't solve that for you. Whether this is a good use of your time or not really depends on where you're at right now (for example, are you a student or a career changer?), where you're trying to go, and what you're considering to do instead.

A co-worker told me about a google program called coursera. The following programs are what are offered.

  1. Cyber security

  2. Data analytics

  3. digital marketing & e-commerce

  4. IT support

  5. project management

  6. UX design

Are these programs legit? They advertise people who have gotten jobs with their program certificates and show reviews. It seems affordable, self paced and takes 3-6 months?

Let’s say I do it, are any of these in high demand? Hard to find?

Google certificates does not have so much value anymore. Why? I would dare to say that they are too easy and it's Free. Other option for certificate does not come from Google but Facebook. Their certificate, Facebook blueprint cost x dollars and it is very hard to pass.

February 6, 2025 -

Hey everyone! I saw a Facebook post from DTI about their free "Google Career Certificate Program" on Coursera. I got really interested and registered through their Google Form about a month ago.

But since then, I haven’t received any update—no email, no confirmation, nothing. I’m just wondering, has anyone here actually been contacted or granted access to the courses? Or did they stop the program already?

It’s confusing since the post was just recently shared again. I’m asking here because Coursera’s financial aid no longer gives 100% free access like before, so I was really counting on this opportunity.

Just to follow up on my previous post from a month ago, I ended up making free courses for the rest of the Google Cloud certification exams.

You can access all the practice questions from the LearnGood explore courses page, no signup required. It's also not bad on mobile, aside from the accidental zooms, which can be pretty brutal. Hopefully this serves as a nice resource for the community. Cheers.

r/it on Reddit: Are the Google Certificate Programs worth it?
March 14, 2024 -

Hello! I recently went and bought a laptop with the specs needed to do data analytics, It work, or cyber security work because I want to take the google classes for any of those choices. My budget is very scarce right now. So the google certificate program for 49$ a month is doable for me. I want to learn and develop the skills needed for at least an entry level position for data analytics or cyber security or something along those lines. I desperately need a decent job and something that I can start building my future with,

So I suppose my question is, has anyone here done those google programs? If so, are they worth it? Did they help you get a job in your desired field? Are there any other online courses you'd suggest regarding data analytics or cyber security for about the same price? I really want to better myself and acquire new skills that will help me land a job in my desired field.

I really appreciate any advice/answers in advance!

Thank you so much!
