Metrolist and Kreate. The first one has a GitHub page and is available on the IzzyOnDroid repo in F-Droid. The second one has a GitHub page and is available in the official F-Droid repo. I'm personally using the first one. Answer from lsvoboda on reddit.com

I don't like paying for subscriptions. I use free Pandora and I like the stations. I also use free YouTube music because that's where I uploaded all my flac. Are there better free options (I don't mind the ads) with good quality bitrate that I don't know about.

I'm honestly just really annoyed with streaming right now. Recently I left Spotify because I was forced to listen to music on shuffle when listening on my Mac (the device I use the most when listening to music). Then I switched to Deezer and I was liking it a lot. But now I can only listen to 30 seconds of a song if I stay on the free plan.

Frankly, I don't think being able to listen to an album the way an artist intended, or listening to a song in full, are premium features. I just want a simple, user-friendly, streaming service that will actually let me listen to my music in peace. Any suggestions?

I currently use Harmony Music, it's great but the creator of Harmony Music is gonna change it to offline streaming app. But I ain't a big fan of Offline music apps cuz you can't really discover new musics and I really just don't like offline music apps. Pls suggest me some good, free Online music streaming apps

Music streaming apps without commercials - free trials?
September 28, 2024 - What music streaming apps have free trials? The only reason I'm using these is for my child at bedtime, so I am not interested in paying what most of them cost. We've done trials of Amazon music, Apple Music, and Spotify. The one I did for Apple Music was for like 3 months.

So If you haven’t heard, the CEO of Spotify is using artists money to invest in AI military drones (for more context here’s a link to what I’m talking about: https://consequence.net/2025/07/king-gizzard-remove-music-spotify-ai-drone-tech/ )

And I’m thinking of switching services. Can anyone point out any that are much better than Spotify so I can listen to more to go against Spotify and their actions?

r/LetsTalkMusic on Reddit: Is there such a thing as a good, moral, ad free music streaming site?

I always have used Spotify for finding and listening to music because of how easy it is to use, however I honestly really don't want to keep using it out of moral reasons. I tried getting into Bandcamp but I heard that it sold out to epic game (out of all companies off course) and that the revenue increased. I also struggled with having to pay money to add a song onto a playlist, although I understand why they have that feature.

I know the answer is probably no, but are there ANY good sites which are ad free, give a actual good cut to the artists, aren't sold to a big company, good discography?

The next best thing would also be absolutely good, I just want a good alternative to Spotify

  • No ads between songs (consistent banner ads are fine, I just don't want the music to stop - and no audio/video ads)

  • Easily able to find new music. I like that Spotify will automatically play similar artists once a playlist/album is done, and that they show similar artists all the time.

  • Able to make playlists.

  • Able to skip songs, unlimited.

That's pretty much it. A lot of people care about syncing and downloading and other things that I don't. Just want to keep the music going, skip what I don't like, find new stuff often, and make my playlists.

I tried Freefy and that was a bust. Going to try out Freegal once I get my library card situation figured out. Looking for other suggestions in the meantime. Thanks!

Hi

I'm switching away from Spotify for two reasons: Playlists are bugged. When I play a playlist, I always get the same few songs. Some of the songs I can tell 100% will be played within the first 10 songs. It's driving me crazy. Also, they're focusing more on audio books and podcasts which I don't care about, they pay songwriters less, and they're upping the premium price. A paying customer since the beginning is now signing off for good.

What are my alternatives? Tidal? I didn't like it when I tried it 2-3 years ago but I'm willing to give it another shot. Are there any other good options? I don't mind paying.

My Spotify student subscription just expired, and I'm looking at other options like YouTube Music and other streaming services. What's the best one currently and why?

I want to know about:

Usability (navigation, user experience, etc...)

Catalog of music and artists

Extra features (like lyrics, playlists, connectivity, etc...)

Price and available plans

Audio quality

"Useless extras" (like Spotify Wrapped, for example)

Edit 1: I'm using YouTube Music Premium for 1 week Edit 2: I'm sticking with Spotify because I use the student package (R$11.90), and the YouTube Music student package doesn't include YouTube (separate student subscription for R$16)

Spotify is terrible on the free version (no song selection), YouTube mobile is bad without premium (must stay in the app), Apple Music/iHeart/basically everything else only lets you listen to radio, meanwhile Pandora forces you to watch a 5-15 second ad and you have 30 minutes of being able to choose music with no ads, much better than Spotify. While the audio quality isn’t great, it’s perfectly bearable, and the song selection is large too, just barely smaller than Spotify in terms of relevant music. The only cons to me are that the search results are by popularity and have no relevance to me, and it dosent have synced lyrics. Why more people don’t use Pandora puzzles me.

r/Frugal on Reddit: Comparing free (ad-supported) music streaming services
August 12, 2018 -

I have been using Spotify for over 5 years, occasionally cancelling my premium membership to use the ad-supported service. Recently, I have been getting fed up with the number of ads and how obnoxious they are. I tried a free trial of Deezer Premium, which was pretty good (had a couple issues with playback not loading). Overall it's kind of similar to Apple Music, but I let the trial run out because I still don't want to spend $10/month.

The other day I started using the ad-supported service on Android, and I noticed how few ads it played. There is no on-demand service (at least on the mobile version) but right now I have been listening for about 75 minutes in shuffle mode and have only listened to 1 30-second ad. I still haven't got around to testing the Windows app, but I'm pretty happy with the free service compared to Spotify's free service. For anyone looking to choose a playlist and get some work done, or for during a workout, this seems like a good option. I would compare it to something like Pandora but with much fewer ads.

Does anyone have experience with the desktop app or other free streaming/radio services? Besides Deezer and SomaFM, I haven't found that many options that are close to ad-free.
