Hi everyone! Sorry if this is not the righ place to post this.
I am currently in the process of starting my own podcast, and as such I'm looking for the best possible audio recording (and maybe editing) software that is free. It doesn't have to be amazing, just usable and with good enough audio quality, preferably without time limits.
Any recommendations?

Auda ity on the PC has been wonderful. I save as a MP3, it allows tagging, and Buzzsprout accepts the upload with no problems.

What I do with my co-host, we jump on a Zoom call and record it. Zoom provides you with both video and audio files so you don't have to "extract audio". Then I use Audacity to clear the noise from the audio, edit further if needed by removing parts if we had big pauses or such, and export it. If I can't export it to mp3 or a suitable format, I use the free iMovie (on a Mac) to import the audio and export it into mp3. But I guess there are other free online service for it as well (or even tools). Hope it helps :)

Hi, I'm getting started in podcasting and feel super overwhelmed with choices and options available. My first goal is to use some interviews done in the field to create an episode that captures the vibe of a place. OK, I know that's not super original, but everyone has to start somewhere. What I'm struggling with is choosing software for editing what I've recorded. I have a mac, so I've got garage band already. I could use that. In the past (I'm talking 17 years ago), when I did pre-recorded radio shows, I used Audacity and found it very intuitive and excellent. But maybe times have changed and there are better options out there. Any recommendations for me? I really don't know what to pick!

Totally get the overwhelm, there are so many options now.
