Hi all,
I tried the option of ZenSSL by trying to manually set up an SSL certificate and bypass GoDaddy's SSL expensive plans, but all methods (HTTP and DNS) didn't work. My client wants the https to show up, but I'm not sure if there's any other way (besides switching hosting providers).
Any ideas?

GoDaddy SSL Certificate - Is there a free option?

Just started working with a client who bought GoDaddy hosting + a SSL. When I took a look at the SSL setup, I discovered that he dropped ALMOST $300 ON A SSL CERT for what will be a basic website.
I also see tons of posts on FB and Reddit every day: "Do I need to buy a SSL Certificate for my GoDaddy Website?" "How do I get around GoDaddy's $70 SSL cert?"
The base installation of cPanel has a feature called AutoSSL. It does what it's title suggests. Auto instals and renews Let's Encrypt certs.
GoDaddy disables this feature on their cPanel and pushes users to their SSL offering. $70 (per year) for a basic SSL and $300ish for a wildcard SSL. That's crazy.
You can fairly easily install a free SSL certificate generated by Let's Encrypt on GoDaddy, though I think many people unsuspectingly spend $70 because they're lead to believe it's the only option.
We made a guide (and a video tutorial) on how to install the free SSL cert on your WordPress website (hosted on GoDaddy). Here's the link: https://isotropic.co/free-ssl-on-godaddy-wordpress/
It shows you how to use SSL Zen (a free WordPress plugin) to generate a SSL cert, install it via the SSL/TLS interface on GoDaddy's cPanel, and how to swap from HTTP to HTTPs.
Hopefully when somebody searches for GoDaddy SSL tutorials, this will pop up and save them $70.
Don't get conned swindled tricked into spending a ton of money on something that has a free alternative that does exactly the same thing.
