I pay for several services and I can say that the biggest advantage to that is that you can rely on your data to be working most all of the time. If you are using a free "hack" you never know when everything will just shut off and if you need reliability, you should really pay for a feed. Anyway, hit me up if you want to chat about your project, goals and so forth. I would like to create some charts and tables that analyze the stock market and display them on a public website (that I am building).
At first I thought that there were many "free stock APIs", however I see in their terms that they are only for personal use.
I am only interested in historical data, I don't need recent or real time data.
How is it possible that you need to pay hundreds of dollars just to access historical data / facts that are publicly known?
Is there any legal / free API to access historical stock data (e.g. price, earnings, etc.)?

You can kinda hack yahoo finance requests. Only thing is that yahoo is pre adjusted for spits and everything. I’ve also used Alpha vantage , I find the data to be cleaner but you have a limitation of how many requests you can make per minute.
