Is there a free alternative to Webflow that doesn't require wordpress. I'm looking for something that is design focused and not very focused on the coding part.

For something free and design-focused (and not WordPress), I tried Webstudio and liked how similar it feels to Webflow. You can build visually, and the free plan even lets you connect a custom domain (they actually have lots of free features: https://webstudio.is/features ). I’ve also heard good things about Slidde . co - it’s more beginner-friendly and works kind of like a PowerPoint-style editor. Some people also recommend BOWWE and Dorik for lightweight, design-first sites, though I haven’t personally used those. Might be worth exploring depending on what kind of site you're building.

Great alternatives to Webflow?

I coincidentally started using Webstudio recently. Great product. But while it's a good alternative, it isn't a 1:1 comparison (e.g. you have to run your own CMS, which pros and cons mostly for non-technically inclined). The differences seem to mostly be a reflection of the open source philosophy that I love to support, along with being a newer product and significantly smaller team at the moment. More on reddit.com

I don't know if recent events are worth abandoning ship. For me, I was more interested in dipping out after the last round of price increases more than these small speed bumps which seems to be server side as I've come to find out a couple platforms like Supabase and Shopify both have had issues this week - so to me, it sounds like it's a AWS issue more than anything, which I think the last time Webflow had an issue like this, a few months ago, AWS had made a statement about their severs, although AWS isn't reporting any issues right now, the first week of this month was hectic for them. Framer has this motion that it's simple to use, and while for basic traffic it's a lot cheaper, it's not easier to use by any means, even found hardship editing their templates. Squarespace has it's own vibe, but very limited, drag and drop into congested or spaced out bricks with limited editing abilities, even with code, I think it's a buck or two more expensive than Webflow. Webstudios is a thing, it looks decent but I have no experience in it. I think the next step in the same direction, is doing custom solutions. Cloudflare is free for a handful of pages. Design and development isn't that difficult, figma has exporting tools (they suck but they're there) Overall, I'll also tell you this, while this issue seems to be rampant... nobody has made any post about seeing if Webflow is working in safari, and for me, it hasn't stopped working. I'm not saying safari is better I'm just saying It seems to be unfazed in safari.

Hey all. I know this is a common post (in fact, I just finished reading the comments section of one from only 16 days ago...) but everyone has a different use case and I wanted to get some opinions based on mine.

On the side, I develop marketing websites for a local company/friend's marketing company. I've developed maybe 12-15 of them for their clients over the last couple of years, and although I don't hate Squarespace like some of you do, I am getting pretty exhausted of the decisions they make. The dip in customer service, the new Circle gold status minimums, etc -- it's just not a positive trajectory and maybe this is my time to learn something new.

Some caveats I want to mention --

My friend/their company loves SS because it's an all-in-one shop. They're not married to the idea of that, but they do like having a site, domain, analytics, email campaign, google workspace all in one place.
My Circle membership has saved their clients a ton of money, but I wouldn't be migrating any old client sites -- just starting new ones on a new service.
I hate Wix and Wordpress far more than I could ever hate Squarespace. I just mentioned them in the header so that folks in a similar boat could more easily search for this thread.

I have 2.5yoe as an FE professionally. I mention this to say that custom code doesn't scare me and learning curves don't scare me. I would love to write all of their websites off of a homemade NextJS/Django template but that isn't reasonable for what they need, so I'm leaning into tools like Framer and Webflow, but I'm interested in other options. What do you all think? What's your favorite in 2025? Thanks in advance.

Hello, same here, Circle member, tons of clients but they doesnt have a clue about how downgrade had been SS since few years ago. I also hate Wix, but WP can be a good option if u know code, js, database, but again,the edit tools are poor in front of ss, so they will dislike It, I will suggest to use the plataform that Is ideal for the porpouse you will need. -Editorial:WP -E-commerce: Shopify -portfolio: Cargo and SS -services: Odoo
