I have a second monitor set up via a USB to VGA adapter (a 20 dollar one I got online) and it's been working great for months. I turned on my laptop (windows 10) yesterday and the monitor didn't turn on. This monitor is actually set up as my primary, so it was obvious when it wasn't working.
I updated the Fresco Logic Display adapter and it said it was already using the newest driver. I was not able to roll it back. I uninstalled and deleted it, and downloaded the driver again off the website on the instructions for the adapter. I went through the process and still, nothing.
I thought maybe the cheap adapter broke, so I bought another one, identical, it also does not work.
I've done lots of uninstallations, restarts, and reinstalls. I've played in the display settings and it just tells me "Didn't detect another display" when I click detect.
I've powered everything off, unplugged the monitor, etc. Nothing helps.
Things have been perfect and I just want to go back. Any help would be great.
Thanks!

I purchased the Oculus recommended Fresco Logic USB expansion card and installed it into my PC. It's not supposed to require any external drivers with the included Windows 10 drivers being sufficient. Oculus Home however is complaining with "USB driver update recommended".
I've searched and cannot find any drivers to update to. Is anybody else getting this warning?
You can get the Fresco Logic drivers here:
https://support.zoho.com/portal/frescologic/home (USB 3.0 Host Driver (FL1000, FL1009, FL1100) v3.6.8.0)
But beware, I have had the best experience with the windows 10 drivers. I got two scenarios:
-
Installed an older fresco logic driver from the Inateck website -> Got bluescreens after reboot
-
Installed the latest driver from fresco logic website (the one from the link) -> Worked flawlessly at first, but made my rift shut off for a few seconds now and then.
Went back to windows 10 drivers: Everything worked again as expected.
Don't do it. The new drivers didn't work right with my CV1 and I had to roll them back.
Hi Nicolaslafo,
I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.
The adapter needs to be connected to a USB 3.0 port to work correctly, if it is connected to a USB 2.0 port it will work on a maximum resolution of 800x600.
If it is already connected to a USB 3.0 port, try another available port
With a little research, I found that it is a common issue with this adapter, here is a possible fix that I've found:
Go to the Fresco Logic driver installation folder (default path: C:\Program Files\Fresco Logic\Fresco Logic USB Display Driver\FL2000\x64) and open fresco_monitor_tool.exe . Set the resolution and refresh rate but slowly increase from 800x600 until you find a suitable working resolution. Set the refresh rate to 60HZ, and if needed, reduce it. Select Set EDID to apply the changes, Clear EDID will clear the changes you did.
Hi everyone,
have an issue with my frescologic USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter and MacBook Pro (13", mid. 2012, i5, 16GB) with Bootcamp/Windows 10. I want to connect 2 Monitors. The first one runs perfectly with Displayport at full-HD. But the second monitor with the Adapter can only handle up to 1680x1050. On MacOS there is no such a problem. There I got on both monitors 1920x1080. It's only on Windows.
I tried to install the drivers on the adapter itself, deleted them and also tried to install them again from https://support.frescologic.com/portal/en/kb/fresco-logic . Nothing worked.
Is there anyone who had the same problem?
Hi RenéBravo
Greetings! I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.
What is the exact issue which you get? Any screenshot?
Hi Rene,
If the driver from the cards installation disc (if the card is/was an add-on) or if the driver from the Fresco site was downloaded and installed, completely uninstall all of those (these drivers are basically for Win 7/Vista/XP support) then restart the PC and let Windows update install the driver(s) that it likes.
The add-on cards (in my case an Inatech 7 Ports PCI-E to USB 3.0 Expansion Card installed in Feb. 2016) that use the Fresco Logic (FL1100) chipset were always plug-n-play with Windows 10 with the best results. (Those that mistakenly installed the old drivers had problems).
Or, if you are referring to (using) the FL2000 USB 3.0 Display device controller then also refer to the links below:

https://support.frescologic.com/portal/kb/articles/fl2000-recommended-usb-3-0-xhci-host

Hope this helps,
-Richard
EDIT: Hmm they are better but still dropping out for me occasionally.. it seems some people are having good results though

Inateck KTU3FR-4P
With windows 10 default microsoft driver everything worked, no dropouts, but warnings in oculus home about driver update recommended, rift/sensor randomly reported as USB 2.0 instead of 3.0, and the tracking seemed occasionally glitchy.
With any of the Fresco Logic drivers I had tried till now I'd get intermittent blackouts in the rift
Finally with this latest one it seems to all work perfectly; Rift and sensor reported as USB3.0, no dropouts, tracking seems great
https://support.zoho.com/portal/frescologic/home USB3.0 Host Driver (FL1000, FL1009, FL1100)
v3.6.9.0a
Thanks! This needs to higher up since those old Fresco drivers DID NOT work properly with the Rift. Switched from default drivers to these and they seem to work really well. No drops at all.
Just tried it for myself, and yep; all the previous warnings are gone, and everything is working perfectly.
Good call!
I am having the exact same problem since I upgraded to Windows 11 24H2.
PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS: I thought I will uninstall frescologic driver and reinstall it to fix the issue. But after reinstalling the driver, I am unable to get the second monitor(frescologic USB to VGA/HDMI) working at all.
I tried DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) but it still does not work..
Edit: Finally after a lot of hit and trial, I was able to get the second monitor working. I am not sure which steps were relevant but below is what I did:
- from Device Manager -> Display Adapters, Right click the "fresco logic iddcx adapter" -> Uninstall Device -> Check the attempt to remove driver.
- from Device Manager -> USB Video class device , Right click the "fresco logic FL2000 USB Display Adapter" -> Uninstall Device -> Check the attempt to remove driver.
- By launching the installer, I uninstalled the newer frescologic driver I had already installed (FL2000-2.1.36287.0.exe)
- Restart
- Install the driver version which came in with the device "Windows install_2.1.34054.0" - Windows install_2.1.34054.0.exe
Hello KOSTAS RODIS and welcome to the Microsoft Community!
According to your feedback, you are experiencing an update to Windows 11 24h2 and the monitor has to be disconnected and reconnected for it to display!
You can uninstall the driver for your monitor by clicking on the windows key > search and open Device Manager > uninstall the driver for your monitor.
Then you can go to the official website of your motherboard and download the chipset driver of your motherboard again.
At the same time, update your computer's graphics card driver
Then restart your computer and connect your monitor to see if the problem persists.
If this does not solve your problem
You can also try to uninstall the update by clicking on windows key > settings > windows update > update history.
Uninstall the update and see if the problem persists after uninstalling it.
This will help you to rule out if the problem is caused by the update.
I hope you find the above information helpful.
