Entry level Frette sheets - a warning
Thoughts on Frette bed sheets?
Frette on sale…yes? No?
Frette sheets worth it?
I recently bought a set of Frette One Bourdon sheets hoping for a nice upgrade from department store sheets I’ve bought in the past. There’s been a couple of murmurs of discussion about them on this subreddit but really not much detail.
Unfortunately these sheets are big box store quality at best. Having moved from the UK, I would say that you could easily pick up nicer sheets for less at John Lewis (I’m new to the US, so don’t know the equivalent here).
Whilst the sheets are percale, they feel excessively rough as opposed to crisp. The fabric itself is thin and translucent which doesn’t exactly scream quality (it’s also made in Portugal, not Italy like the mainline sheets).
You’re also missing some basic QoL features like envelope-closures on the pillowcases and ties on the duvet cover.
I probably should have known when it turned up in fairly cheap looking plastic packaging that it wouldn’t be a premium product but I’m still disappointed. Maybe they’ll get better with more washes, but after a couple of washes there doesn’t seem to be much hope (from a laundry service, so I don’t think they’re doing anything wrong).
Hopefully I can save people some money and say you should look at alternatives!
