Google fruit cocktail cake. It's basically a cake mix, a couple of eggs and a can of fruit cocktail (you can add coconut to it as well), mix and bake. Cover with whipped cream and coconut. It's light and fruity and very good. For a party, I also like to make ambrosia (but without sour cream). A can of fruit cocktail, a box of pudding (lemon, vanilla, pistachio or strawberry all work well), 2 cups of cool whip, coconut, and mini marshmallows (bonus colours if you use the flavoured ones that are pink, orange and yellow). Mix it all up and let it set. You can also drain fruit cocktail and add it to jello. Makes for a nice treat. Answer from Independent-Size-464 on reddit.com

My drink recipes have fruit liqueurs and syrups. I only have access to fruits and juices. Advice on converting?

Fruit infused alcohol is simple. Just take alcohol, chop fruit and combine. Shake once a day and taste regularly. Strain and bottle once it tastes the way you want.

For fruit syrups, I've had good results doing a day maceration. Chop the fruit, cover in sugar, leave until a syrup forms. Morganthaler has some great advice on this in his book.

Tasty juice recipes that i can make a lot of?
I like to buy the frozen fruit juices and dilute them with tea, which can be relatively cheap if you know where to look. Where I live, Kroger often has frozen juices on sale, and that’s a good time to stock up since they keep for ages in the freezer. Some good combos are apple juice and green tea or hibiscus (any “Zinger” Celestial Seasonings tea will work and is often on sale) and cran-raspberry juice. You could also use frozen lemonade and black tea to make a big pitcher of Arnold Palmer. I make the juice as directed, and then add a similar volume of tea. More on reddit.com

Easy Three Ingredient Fruit Cocktail Cake - Helen's Fuss Free Flavours
July 9, 2024 - You need a can of fruit cocktail (in juice, not syrup), self-raising flour, and sugar. I just added a little extra water to increase the amount of liquid and give a nicely sized cake. This cake is perfect if you are running on ingredients but don’t want to go shopping, as all the ingredients will be from your pantry. This tinned fruit cake works for everybody – it’s fat free, vegan and is part of your daily intake of fruit and veg! The recipe only uses store cupboard ingredients – ideal when you can’t get to the shops.

September 10, 2024 -

I have no money, but I had a bunch of leftover cans of totally not expired vegetables and so I've been belting out childhood struggle meals with leftover stuff my mom had and didn't want (mainly frozen beef and chicken) so I've been meal-prepping a lot of chicken pot pie, tuna casserole, and SOS. Now I want something sweet and I found a can of totally fresh fruit cocktail and I was wondering if there are any struggle meals recipes I can make with it? I don't have gelatin, which was the first thing I thought of. I have all the basics like flour, eggs, sugar, and milk, and some nuts and stuff. Any ideas.

February 20, 2025 - The fruit cocktail in syrup is important! Skip the Box: The reason I don’t use boxed cake mix in this particular recipe is that with the simplicity of this recipe, a mix doesn’t really seem like convenience at all! My recipe is quick, easy, and once you try it, you’ll never want to use boxed caked mixes again! Cherries: You’ll only use one can of fruit cocktail, so you know what that means – the kids are going to be fighting over those three maraschino cherries!

August 16, 2024 - Pears – You want ripe, sweet pears, but not ones that are meltingly soft because they won’t hold up well in the fruit cocktail. Pineapple – If you’re not up for prepping a fresh pineapple, there’s no shame in buying a tub of cut pineapple from the grocery store! Peaches – Or nectarines, which are peaches without fuzz. (It’s true!) Grapes – Canned fruit cocktail only has green grapes, but we’re going to live it up and add green AND red.
