Adapting is not an issue the old EF lenses will work better than on any old EF body What lenses exactly you own for the RF mount? Personally I would stay at the Canon eco system because lenses are most important and you already got so many. Check for an old used R6 they can be head cheap and are very powerful. Why I Changed from Canon to Fujifilm
January 24, 2025 - Fujifilm has taken a different approach and named its profiles after brands of Fuji film. So the settings have names such as Velvia, Provia and Astia. But more importantly, they simply work better than Canon’s Picture Style settings. The Velvia setting brings out beautiful colors in landscape photos. Provia and Astia can be used for portraits and other subjects that suit more muted colors.

Budget Camera Shootout: Canon vs. Fuji for Portraits | Fstoppers
May 18, 2024 - The X-H2S is the apex of Fuji's APS-C X-series lineup, and on a technical level, it's also a crop-sensor camera but with a fancy X-trans sensor, slightly more resolution in both stills and video vs. the R10, and faster shooting in general. That said, for portraits, much of this doesn't matter (though for Tran's jumping portraits, that 40 fps burst vs. the Canon's 23 might come into play a little bit when grabbing just the perfect moment).

Should i choose Fujifilm over sony or canon ?
Can only speak for myself but Fuji cameras have always just clicked with me. Their build, controls, photo qualities. I shot Cannon prior to switching back in the late 90s early 2000’s and then never stayed with Fuji. Can’t see myself ever leaving. More on reddit.com

Hi! I need some help. I have a 2-step dilemma: 1. DSLR vs Mirrorless The current presence of mirrorless is undeniable. r/AskPhotography on Reddit: Canon vs. Fujifilm?
June 4, 2025 -

After a long hiatus, I'm getting back into photography. I was on team Canon prior to my long break and had a 40d with quite a nice collection of glass. I have a few primes and a few L zooms. A big issue was that the weight of the gear usually had me leaving it at home and just using my phone. meh.

I have an upcoming trip and I'd like to get some new gear prior to the trip. I'm not going to do any significant video filming and will focus on people and places mostly. No tough sports shots or anything like that.

That takes me to my choices. In doing my research and it seems like the EF mounts are dead. I see a few options. One, I get an old 90d and everything is compatible. Two, I get an R and need the adaptor. Three, i switch camps to Fuji, get a X-5T w/18-55 and sell my old gear. I'm leaning to the Fuji thinking I get a nice build and photo quality, better portability, lots of manual controls, etc at the expense of AF deficiencies and joining a new ecosystem.

Thoughts?

December 1, 2022 - First, sharpness. The pixel-peeping segments clearly showed a significant difference in local contrast between the Canon and Fuji pictures that made the higher contrast [Canon] pictures look sharper than the Fuji's in every case.

Canon versus Fujifilm camera gear | Review of the Fujifilm XT5
October 4, 2022 - In 2020 I bought the Fuji XT3 with the kit lens for $1500 and started to play. I loved having all of the dials on the outside of the camera. I had grown up with a manual film camera and it was like coming home. The auto focus worked well and I used it to shoot a lot of portrait sessions. Sometimes I worried I needed to use the Canon for extended family work and use that $2500 50mm 1.2 lens, but when I saw how the Fuji printed at 20x30 it was perfect.

Using Fuji X Lenses vs Canon Full Frame Lenses - Ottawa Wedding & Portrait Photography
February 2, 2014 - I wouldn’t often use a 35mm equivalent focal length for a studio portrait but it’s a great lens to include more context in an image (as you can see by the various clutter). This illustrates the difference in back-ground blur between cropped and full frame. As you can see, the blur is noticeably greater with a full frame sensor while the aperture and shooting/lighting settings remain the same. Interestingly, the 35mm F1.4 below at F2.0 still has more blur in the background than the Fuji 23mm F23 at F1.4

Why I chose a Fujifilm camera over Nikon, Canon and Sony | Amateur Photographer
October 22, 2025 - Fujifilm X-T3 top controls. IR · The X-T3’s weaknesses are that it doesn’t have in-body image stabilization (IBIS), as well as battery life and AF tracking, which I have found to be very hindering, but in terms of technical, the X-T3 has through and through been of very good value for money. The X-T3 comes with a XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS lens, when bought as a kit. I plan on buying a portrait lens soon – and there’s a lot of options to choose from as Fujifilm offers several budget-friendly compact lenses as well as more premium lenses for professionals.

Comparing Nikon, Canon, Fuji and Sony Cameras — Sandy Noto
April 10, 2023 - I would love to see the Canon DSLR compared to the new Canon mirrorless camera. Additionally, I’d be curious to see a comparison between digital medium format cameras and DSLRs, but that’s for some other time. After all this, I would say that if I were doing portrait work I’d get a Nikon. If I were mostly shooting urban street photography, I’d go for a Fuji or a Sony, but as a food photographer, I’m happy with the Canon.

Right now I'm leaning towards Fuji but the lens seemed to be more costly for me.

Edit: Thank you for the replies once again. It seems Fuji lenses are not that relatively expensive after all.

Hey everyone, thinking about switching to Fuji from Canon.

To the people who switched from Canon to Fuji, what are some of the pros and cons that you've experienced?

It depends on what Canon body you're switching from. My Canon experience: I've used pretty much every pro and semi-pro digital body since the 5D Classic and have been shooting with Canon FD bodies since 2006. Fuji's control scheme was easy for me to get used to, but that's because I've shot with Canon FD bodies for so long that it's second nature. The only thing that got me at the beginning was that the aperture ring goes in the opposite direction. I find that mirrorless cameras, in-general, tend to have a slight delay and lag. They're not quite as responsive as the old Canon DSLRs, but I find the higher-end Fujis to be overall faster and more accurate. The EVF on Fujis is standard-fare for most mirrorless, but they're still very good on the high-end bodies. I liked them better than the EVFs, on early Canon mirrorless full-frame, and are much better than what was on the Sony A7III and earlier. Sensor-performance on Fujis was so close to Canons, even their full-frame DSLRs, that I didn't even consider it as a deciding factor. Depending on the body, one may be slightly better than the other, but I honestly can barely tell. Canon ergonomics are second-to-none imo, and certainly a big deciding factor for many. Fujis are nice but their design is certainly more form over function, but I believe they strike a good balance. The one thing that really took me some time to get around and I had become accustomed to was the lack of Custom Mode dial positions that you find on Canons. C1, C2, C3 and such. Most Fujis don't have that and it really cuts down on your speed and flexibility if your work requires it. Personally, I was at a point that I no longer needed it so much, but it was a noticeable loss. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

I’ve been using Canon since I got into photography around 15 years ago. Just a hobbyist — mostly portraits and night landscapes. I’m currently on the Canon RP with a few lens, but honestly, I’m starting to feel like the RF system is getting too expensive for what it offers.

I’ve been considering a switch — either to Sony (maybe an A7 series) or Fujifilm X series. Both seem to offer more affordable and flexible lens options.

Would love to hear from others who’ve made the switch. What do you think — Sony or Fuji?

Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to add that RF doesn't have a wide third-party options.
