Shortly after graduation, I'm going to be travelling the world. Short stint in Europe, road trip across America, and time in Japan. I wanted something manageable from a size perspective, but still quality and flexible for experimentation. I'm not sure whether is is great or awful timing, but I was almost sold on the X-T5 kit with 18-55mm lens as a buy-once-cry-once camera purchase, with no clue that the X-T50 was on the way.
Now that it's come out, do y'all think the X-T50 is the better choice? I think I prefer the size and look of the X-T5, as well as the stronger battery life, but I haven't had either of them in hand. I was willing to spend the money on the X-T5, but I'm always looking to save if possible.
Hi Fellow Fuji users.
So, I have been suffering acute GAS since the release of the X-T5 (dream come true with the T2/3 body and high res sensor). So far I have been an ambitious hobby photographer but will be starting a part time side hussle as an (employed) photographer with the University I currently study at. I'll be doing promotional photos, mostly indoors for small (A4) to medium and some larger (possibly even up to billboard size) printouts. The higher res sensor and IBIS in the X-T5 are my main reasons for considering that camera, as it should give me
-
The possibility to do large-size prints thanks to the 40MP sensor over the current 26MP in my X-T2
-
The ability to work better in darker environments with lower ISO thanks to the IBIS.
-
A second camera body to have on hand as I will be keeping my X-T2.
However, at a price of 2k(€) where I live this would be quite a large investment. From my calculations, the camera should have paid for itself within about five months.
I have also been considering getting the 16-55 f2.8 red badge zoom lens instead, as the constant f2.8 would give me an edge over my current "standard zoom", the 18-55.
I do however already own the faster Fuji primes:
-
16, 1.4
-
23, 1.4
-
35, 2.0
-
56, 1.2
And the already mentioned 18-55 zoom, as well as the red badge 50-140 f2.8.
So my question boils down to: What would you rather consider for indoor photography,
the 16-55 f2.8 with an X-T2 (without IBIS),
or
the 18-55 f2.8-4 paired with the primes mentioned on an X-T5 (with IBIS)?
