Question about Target Threshold Bedding Sets
It seems that a lot of sets these days won't include a comforter. Sometimes, a duvet cover is available with the set. Then you can use the duvet cover only if you are a hot sleeper. But you will need to get a duvet insert if you want the "comforter" feel. Comforters are getting hard to find because the norms have changed in the last few years. I've been window shopping for sheets a long time. Right now, I have a nice percale set and use a cotton bedspread as I'm sort of over comforters. There is no reason to get whatever you want as a cover in the same brand of your sheets. So, you can get the Target brand (I've heard good things about), then any comforter or other cover you want. Just Google "comforters" and find the material and style you want. They are still available, but duvets seem to be more popular and offer more variety. For instance, I think that I will buy a linen flat sheet as a cover for my percale sheet set. I want to try linen, so this way, I can experiment with just one product, and I think the weight and cooling qualities will work well for me. Good luck! More on reddit.com

97% cotton, 3% linen is the material you are really liking Poly filled is any down alternative filling for the most part- doesn't make the comforter unique. More on reddit.com

Recommendations for buying a duvet cover?

I love the one we got at Ikea. It has done very well with going through the wash a few times and has held up well even though we have a dog that shares our bed. I think it was like $35 for a queen but its been awhile so I don't remember 100%

Duvet and Duvet Covers
I see no problem with that strategy, honestly. The duvet cover often is the most expensive element in many instances. For example, I always recommend a linen canvas duvet cover since it's so damn durable and breathable out of all the fabric options available but it's insanely expensive ($500+ retail). This usually leaves little budget left over for a duvet insert for most people -- even when they find great deals at a few hundred dollars less from places like Ebay --- so it is not a new concept. I tend to also highly recommend silk inserts since they're great for hot sleepers and they are pretty reliable all-around (cheap ones to expensive ones). Hell, I have a cheap all-season silk insert from Costco (SilkHaven brand) that works really well for the price I paid for it, so buying budget-friendly duvet inserts sometimes is not a bad thing at all! The more expensive silk inserts tend to be either really nice outershell options or really high-end silk grades (6A) which raises the price quite a bit (but doesn't increase the breathability of the silk fill too much, overall). Overall, though, you'll probably do pretty well with a more average-priced insert as long as the filling material you're buying is breathable and decently durable. More on reddit.com

r/Bedding on Reddit: Question about Target Threshold Bedding Sets
February 18, 2025 -

So I was looking into replacing all my bedding, which includes of course the Fitted Sheet, Flat Sheet, Pillowcases, and Comforter.

I heard on this subreddit somewhere tha tyou want to try to aim to get the Threshold Performance sets, which I did see some of online. The problem is, I found a Bedding Set which contains Pillowcases, a Fitted Sheet, and a Flat Sheet, but no Comforter.

The only comforter I found with the Performance label was this Down Alternative one that only came in White, and it seems like that's the only one that I'm finding with that Performance label somehow.

So I guess my question is, does it have to say Performance? Am I maybe looking in the wrong places? Should I possibly be looking for a set which contains everything?

As a side side note, how much does thread count matter as well? All of the articles that I have seen are talking about the 400 thread count sheets, not the 800 count or whatever else is on there.

Thanks a ton for any help guys! I feel totally lost right now if I'm being honest.

Wanted to chime in and say that targets threshold bedding is great! I would buy it over more expensive bedding any day. That being said, I’ve never personally paid attention to comforters under the threshold brand, but they don’t really sell threshold bedding sets that include a comforter. That I know. My one word of caution would be to pay attention to the FILL of whatever comforter you buy. Some of them are very sensitive to being dried in a dryer because they are filled with plastic that literally melts. Ask me how I know! My suggestion for a comforter would be to worry less about whether it’s threshold performance or even threshold brand at all and get something that is easy to care for and you like the feel of. IMO, threshold brand (and performance specifically) is really more about the sheets and less about the comforter. It’s how the sheets are made, how they feel, and how they hold up, which to me is a different ball game for a comforter entirely. I did once purchase a really nice threshold brand linen quilt - it’s thin but feels heavy and has a cotton fill so easy to care for. No complaints!

So I’m sure most people will know the brand Threshold at target. They have a comforter that’s called “space dyed cotton” and they are my all time favorite comforters. They just feel and look amazing to me. Now I’ve had both colors I can find in them at target. Does anyone know of another brand that has the same type of comforter? Anytime I search space dyed cotton comforters I can never find anything. Thanks in advance!
