Because most people want smaller kbs and i just makes no sense to put out a product that is harder to make and sells less units. But we have had quite a few good ones over the last few months. Wind X98, Kbdfans Odin, Dino 104, Keychron Q5/Q6, a dope through-hole 100% that i forgot the name of, etc. Answer from Deleted User on reddit.com

r/MechanicalKeyboards on Reddit: I've learned that I want a full size keyboard.

Muscle memory has taught me that.

I wanted a smaller keyboard. So, I bought a Keychron K8 Pro. I really like the keyboard. But I was missing the numpad. I don't use a numpad often. But I do use it, I really want it.

So, next I went with a Royal Kludge RK96. It has a numpad. But it only has print and delete keys on it. I'm thinking to myself, I don't ever use Home, End, Page or Page Down. I'll be fine.

Well, I'm on week 2 of the RK96 and turns out I used those keys all the time and wasn't realizing it. As I was using various apps, I was instinctively reaching for those keys and they weren't there. I didn't realize how much I used them till they were gone.

So, I'm thinking of buying a Keychron K10 Pro now. Which makes no sense because I have plenty of full size keyboards around I can use.

Hi so i have a Logitech g810 that is starting to show its wear and tear, some keys send double strokes and some dont react on first try.

I have ordered a key cap puller and will try a furrow cleaning but if that doesn't help i would be looking for a new keyboard, and building a custom one looks like a great deal of fun.

So are there any good fullsized keyboards that fulfill the following:

  • hotswap

  • media keys

  • volume nob

  • i dont care about led, but if i like it dim so it doesn't distract.

  • black keyboard

  • dark keycaps with some blue thrown in

  • qwerty layout with swedish chars åäö

I work a software developer so i type alot but i don't game that mutch and when i do is not high reaction games..

Max budget is 0.5k but lower would be nice 😂

Also i think i prefer a silent typing experience but I'm not 100% sure as i have 0 experience with diffrent switches.

I've seen so many GBs for smaller sized keyboards but none for full. I know there are 96key layouts but are there any reasonable custom full size ones? I would have thought that people would still want to be able to customize switches when it comes to full sized and I haven't found any pre-built keyboards where you can choose some of the more enthusiast switches. I'm not sure if i can live without the numpad and not sure if the 96key would work with the smaller 0.

Hi, does anyone know how I could buy or make myself an inexpensive, functional, full size mechanical keyboard? I'm new to the whole custom/mechanical keyboard business (i do use an old logitech office membrane keyboard) and i'm looking to get a full size mechanical keyboard. But all nice mechanical keyboards are wayyy too expensive for me or they are in 75%, 60% or etc. size. I know how to solder, I have experience in electronics and I don't mind doing more work if it saves money, but I'm not going to design my own pcb, make my own case, etc (I don't know how). I don't really care about looks, programability or rgb.

I want to build a full size keyboard (yes, including a numpad) but I'm having trouble finding decent options that aren't absurdly expensive. Anyone have any suggestions? Links much appreciated

Edit: I'm looking to spend $150 or less for the whole build. I just built a smaller board for work for about $100 (Epomaker Aura75 with Tecsee purple panda switches and super budget keycaps). I really like the purple pandas, so I'll probably get more of those for this build. So looking for a Frame/PCB for maybe $100 or less

Hello all! I currently have a Logitech Wave Keys keyboard for my Mac, but I need a full size gaming keyboard for my new desktop gaming PC. I use a fingerprint reader plugged into my current Logitech keyboard, and I love this feature, so I would need a keyboard that has a USB port to plug in the device. Any recommendations? I'd like to keep it under $100 if possible, but I might go as much as $150.

r/MechanicalKeyboards on Reddit: Love for Full-Sized Keyboards
December 9, 2023 -

On another post on this sub about the state of mechanical keyboards and the hobby, I made a comment about how my biggest complaint is that there is a severe lack of innovative full sized keyboards. That comment got a lot of traction, both from people who like me prefer full sized boards with a complete numberpad, and from those who prefer smaller boards saying that functions and layers are sufficient.

For me, they definitely aren't, I have a permanently broken finger that makes it really hard for me to touch type in the traditional sense, so I am not someone who always returns to the home row. That, combined with muscle memory, makes a number pad extremely important for me given I work with lots of spreadsheets and data.

There are some options of course, Keychron makes a lot. Ducky has them. Drop, etc. But I'm talking boards that really embrace the enthusiast side of this hobby. Like, my main board is a TKL, and I put up with the immense frustration of having to reach my hands up the board for the main number row, and how much slower it makes me as a result, because it feels and sounds so damn good to type on, and it has accents on it that makes it a statement piece on my desk too. I want those sorts of enthusiast options.

I understand that the market dictates the trends to an extent, and that group buys are catering to what most of the community seems to want. But I also think there's an understated group of us who really, really want some of the recent innovations and trends in the MK hobby to extend to full sized boards.

Anyone with me?

I was wondering if there was a full size hot swappable affordable keyboard out there other than the GMMK full size? My budget for a case and pcb would be $80

r/MechanicalKeyboards on Reddit: Need help finding a custom full size (or 1800) keyboard (or the parts for one)
February 10, 2020 -

Ok so I want to get into custom keyboards, but I very much use every key on my keyboard. So, I need the numpad. But I have seen 1800 keyboards and am actually quite interested in them as well.

So, I was curious if anyone can help me find a keyboard that meets these requirements.

- Full size or 1800

- Black case

- Hot swappable Switches (I want to be able to change switches in the future and very well might purchase my own switches for the keyboard, especially if they are cheap or I don't like them)

- Knob would be cool but absolutely not necessary.

I think that is it. I would prefer to be $250ish (keycaps are not necessary in this price. But I do want quality so take that how you will.

There are a couple of keyboards I found from other posts but I want some opinions on them.

Keychron Q6

KBDFans Odin(Out-of-stock, and very expensive but looks really nice)

Epomaker GK108(Is this too cheap)

Thank you for the help :).

I'm looking for a new keyboard for no other reason of wanting a new one. Currently using a Glorious GMMK 2. Having the 10-key is a non-negotiable for me as I've tried some of the smaller profile keyboards but had a hard time getting over it missing the 10-key.

I've been eyeing some keyboards at zornher (https://zornher.com/) but still wanting to see what else is out there.

Looking to see if there's anything that has side printed keycaps and more of the 'creamy/thocky' style switches. Not looking for the loud clacks, and don't really need a ton of tactile feedback. I'm really started to enjoy the more muted sound of the key presses.

Unsure if there are keyboards out there that could fit this description without just building my own keyboard, which I'm also open to.

My experience with mechanical keyboards have been pretty bad, TVS Bharat Gold, Red Dragon Kumara, Logitech G413, all horrible, unusable l within a year and broken within 2. Currently I am using a rubber dome Logitech G213, it’s a good keyboard, but it isn’t half as satisfying to use as blue switches. What would you guys recommend? I want a wired one, I wouldn’t mind something on the higher end, but I want something that hassle free.

October 30, 2019 - I’d personally be in the market for a custom 104/110 keyboard. I searched for a MX Clear or tactile grey full size board before getting my K95 XT but they simply weren’t in stock anywhere or were $400 CAD by the time I imported one from the USA.

I'm looking to buy a custom keyboard for my girlfriend as a gift for her birthday, since she is looking for one to replace her current disaster Microsoft keyboard that is old enough that the plastic is no longer white. I think it would also be a fun activity to do together.

The crutch is I have is that I have been using a corsair keyboard for as long as I can remember and I have no real idea where to start with custom keyboards. I have looked the keychron and wuque site and I am as confused as it gets. So any help and guidance would be appreciated as well.

I understand custom keyboards can get expensive especially with custom keycaps. but in terms of everything else apart from the keycaps I was shooting somewhere in the $600 range maybe? I think I am quiet flexible though.

List of requirements:

  • Wireless? Not sure how many have a wireless USB dongle thing and Bluetooth pairing?

  • Full keyboard with numpad

  • Backlit keys, not just the ones that light up around the key but the key itself? I'm not sure if there are ones that allow you to RGB color pick the LED but I guess its something fun for her to play around with after its built
