If you want to continue have a large sleeping area, get one of the day beds with the 2 mattresses. Most of the daybeds come in 2 versions. The ones that come with one mattress are simply a twin size daybed with storage. However, the versions that some with 2 mattresses are a twin size daybed that can be opened out to almost a King size bed and pushed back in daybed mode when not sleeping. There is also drawer storage in the bed as well for bedding, clothes or whatever. The HEMNES is probably the best constructed of the daybeds, but there are a couple of other choices. As someone else noted, these daybeds are frequently available on Facebook Marketplace; but if you go that route, you should get new mattresses to avoid the possibility of bedbugs and various allergens. From what I’ve read in other posts, I would recommend a bunkie board as well. The main issue I’ve seen people post about (only occasionally) is breaking a bed slat when the bed is opened (they put their knee on the bed and it pushes into a gap between slats and breaks them). The other issue is not being able to sit on the daybed like you do a sofa with your legs touching the floor, but you could get large bolsters to place along the back of the daybed which would support your back when the bed is in daybed mode. They would also push your sitting stance up sufficiently to have your feet on the floor when sitting up. Answer from nenecope on reddit.com

Is using an IKEA fold-out sofa bed as my full-time bed a bad idea?
Not comfortable. Just get a real twin bed and a long body pillow and you can sit on it against the wall like a couch when you’re not sleeping. It’s more important to have comfortable sleep that leisure. More on reddit.com

Best sleep I’ve gotten was on an ikea futon with a 2” memory foam topper - any mattress recommendations?
I'm finding this type of combo works well for me too—I'm not on a futon, rather a fully inflated air mattress with two toppers as comfort layers. I honestly think most modern beds are just too soft and unsupportive (and latex is painfully supportive, on me). I wonder if it has something to do with their ability to be roll-packed for shipping. Adulting is for the birds. There are reasons I come back to self-employment, renting, driving beaters... ;) More on reddit.com

r/IKEA on Reddit: Can anyone recommend a good sofa bed / futon that would help me downsize and save space?
April 11, 2024 -
Here's the deal, with the cost of living being what it is right now, I went from a 1bd apt to renting a room until I can save money enough to pay off some some debts and consider moving elsewhere. I simply don't have space for living, so I want to get rid of the king mattress I've had for the past 6 years and downsize to something that's more space friendly.
Right now, to have room in my room do anything, I have to pick up my mattress every day and lean it against the wall. I had a used Balkarp years ago, and liked it well enough, but I'm hoping to find reasonably priced suggestions since this purchase would be a daily sleeper for at least the next year.

Sectional Sleeper Sofas - Corner Sofa Beds - IKEA
Futons · A sectional sleeper sofa is designed to provide ample seating for many people. It provides efficient use of the space. It doesn't clutter a room as much as using a regular sofa paired with a couple of armchairs. A corner sofa bed also tends to open up the room, making it feel bigger and more spacious.

IKEA Furniture vs Quality Sofa Beds and Futons
July 13, 2011 - The gap between style and performance becomes even more noticeable with sofa beds and futons. IKEA offers several models that promise to save space by combining seating and sleeping in one piece. On paper, this sounds ideal for studio apartments, guest rooms, or home offices that double as sleeping spaces.
