Hello, Throwaway account for obvious reasons.
Don’t buy the Jarvis Desk. My customers have had nightmare experiences. Those that are buying new, and people asking about warranty for their faulty legs, height adjustment etc.
You get what you paid for; yes it may be cheaper in cost, but it will cost you more time to deal with a product that doesn’t live up to a third of its warranty. Oh and if you want warranty parts, we’ve been told that we need to wait until February for those parts to be shipped to the client.
Why wait that long right? All parts of the Jarvis are made in china, and looks like the warranty claims are pulling from the same inventory that is meant for new desk configurations.
There are plenty of more issues that are not being addressed and look like they will never be addressed. Any client I meet in showroom I advise against them buying this or any fully branded products, I have too much respect for these clients to put them through unnecessary hassles to fix a product that serves better in the dumpster.
I could imagine someone is going to comment “my jarvis works great”. Good. Sounds like yours was made when it was better quality, but this is for Desks that have been bought and made in the last 5 years or so.
Buy at your own discretion.
Hi folks! As I have spent quite a lot of time researching standing desks (at least those available in Europe), I liked seeing others review their respective tables, so I chose to do the same. I think I can help you with making the right choices to have a great standing desk for working from home.
Premises and considerations: I have been working from home since the pandemic started and have changed my employer a few months ago, now working at a 100% WFH company. I have worked in IT administration for the past few years but am now working as an IT consultant, meaning I have quite some knowledge regarding IT hardware and workplace management, but have no special needs as in being a coder, gamer or similar. My flat isn't large but also not too small, and I have approx 120x130cm of space for a small desk and an office chair, so the table could be only 120x80cm large at most. My previous "desk" was a bar table with a bar chair which was neither ergonomic nor practical due to its limited size (80x80cm), and it was a bit wobbly.
Market options and my selection: I have looked at all manufacturers creating standing desks deliverable to Europe. I have narrowed down the choice to Nowy Styl eUP3, Linak's desks, Fully Jarvis Bamboo Dark or Laminate Walnut, and last but not least Autonomous Pro. The latter was my preference at first due to its aesthetically pleasing rounded edges and significantly quieter motors (at least according to specs), but it was too large for my flat. On the other hand, what I liked about the Fully Jarvis was being possible to order it with casters/wheels, but more regarding this later on.
My choice/order: Fully Jarvis with walnut laminate top, 120x80cm, no power grommets, alloy frame, 3-stage frame, programmable memory handset, desk casters, cable management tray. Additional hardware bought elsewhere: A 27" Dell monitor with its regular stand, a 4-socket extension lead
Delivery and packaging: In Europe, the desk is being sent by Fully's European warehouse in Belgium. I have received tracking data for this shipment, consisting of four packages for the desk itself and one package for the cable tray. Shipment to my location was done by FedEx. The packages aren't ideal, so prepare for having to dispose of a lot of cardboard, but it's reasoned and serves its purpose of keeping the table safe while shipping. It took only four days for me to receive the order.
Assembly: Assembly went pretty easy but for some ambiguity regarding which screws are which. The good and equally bad bit is that almost all screws are the same thick but only vary slightly in length and material – some being bare metal and some having some paint on them (probably to make them easier to screw in). What troubled me a bit was the manual showed one type of cross screws which were delivered with hex sockets instead (the correct hex keys are provided as they are also used for other screws). But once these ambiguities were resolved, setting up the desk was fairly easy and took about an hour. If you buy the desk including the tabletop, all holes and nuts necessary are already prepared so you only have to put the screws in, and it's done.
First impressions/Review: I am positively surprised by how well the desk works and looks. I had some doubts regarding the alloy frame, but it looks magnificent with its glazed-ish surface looking very durable and beautiful. However, the laminate table top is a bit of a mixed bag as it seems durable and beautiful but is prone to fingerprints. It could be worse, it still looks good without cleaning every day, but it's not as if you couldn't see where I have pushed or pulled my table (as it's on casters). I will stick to my choice nevertheless as both the bamboo and the wood veneer don't look as great as this walnut laminate, and the hardwood top is far too expensive for me to consider it. I can also recommend buying the programmable memory handset and the desk casters as they make using and moving the desk within my flat very comfortable, and I am using my desk in different positions depending on whether I want to see my windows, have a white wall in the background or want to store the desk in a way it has less of a "visual footprint" within my living room.
A few words regarding stability: When you look up Fully Jarvis and its stability, you will surely find some people expressing doubts or criticism, but I cannot agree with that. I guess most doubts are based on BTOD's "reviews", and while BTOD acts as if they are neutral reviewers, they have had their fair share of trouble with bias as they sell their own desks and are thus not neutral (though their reviews have "improved" after facing some legal action). I have tested the stability of my desk at different heights, and it's very stable, and as long as you don't suffer catastrophic earthquakes, Fully Jarvis should be stable and fine (and in case of catastrophy, I guess your standing desk is the least of your worries). From my point of view, Fully Jarvis is a very stable standing desk.
