Hi everyone! I'm looking for some help with a humorous gift for my boyfriend. There's a pretty big age gap between us (I'm 34, he's 46), and we love teasing each other about it—it's kind of our inside joke!
For fun, I want to put together a "Old Man Starter Kit" gift box for him. So far, I've thought about including a glasses chain and a pill organizer, but I'm struggling to come up with more ideas for items typically associated with older people.
Does anyone have suggestions for other fun, lighthearted "old man" objects to include? Thanks in advance!

Hoping for some funny, easy gift ideas to play on the fact that one is “over the hill” after turning 30. Thinking like adult diapers and stuff like that just to give him some shit.
Budget is up to $50. What else?
My brothers 32nd birthday is coming up, he’s impossible to shop for (tends to just buy anything he needs), he’s a pretty midwestern dude who loves beer and BBQ
Im torn between going functional as his grill utensils are looking pretty beat up (a bbq set from Lamson), or going funny (maybe the Candelo beer candle from boozycandle.com)
Curious what you would rather get/if you have any other suggestions
I swear buying Christmas gifts for men is impossible. Every year I search for “Christmas gift ideas for men” or “Christmas gifts for husband/dad/boyfriend” and it’s the same recycled lists of socks, ties, and random gadgets. Not gonna lie, half of those “best gifts for men” suggestions feel like shopping online clearance.
This year I’m trying to find funny gifts, unique Christmas gifts, Secret Santa ideas, even gifts under $25 or under $50 that actually land (I have some christmas party budgets). Looking for custom or personalized stuff that guys actually use or laugh at instead of something that breaks after a day.
If you’ve ever found a Christmas gift for a boyfriend, husband, dad, or even a coworker that got a genuine reaction (funny, useful, or just memorable), please share. Bonus points for stuff that works as white elephant gifts or gifts for men who already have everything. 🙏🎁
EDIT: THANK YOU FOR THE REPLIES
I bought an unhinged shirt from Unethical Threads! Absolutely 10/10 should make for a great reaction. It was around 25$ and took 5 days to arrive. I can't wait for Christmas to come so I can gift this ahaha
This contest is now closed.
Happy Holidays everyone. This is the time of year for gathering together, sharing in the wholesome wonder of whatever you celebrate. This season also comes with GIFTS! The winner of thus contest is going to receive one, but of a specific variety.
I have a love for gag gifts and novelty toys, inexpensive and kind of silly items. They can be pranks, small versions of big things, optical illusions, or just stuff that is downright weird. Here's an article I found for reference:
https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/holidays/gift-ideas/g4593/funny-gag-gift-ideas/
You don't have to ask for anything on that list, I just want to provide an idea of the sort of items that qualify as a gag and novelty gift.
I also want there to be joy and laughter on this very thread! Share holiday themed jokes or videos and help me spread holiday cheer! (It's optional)
Also, I would like a link to your specific item. The item has to be 15 dollars or under, with prime shipping eligible. You must be within the US. My apologies international friends.
Also, for the RWG, include "Lots of Laughs" in your comment
The contest ends on friday.
Rules: 1:DBAD
2:Post a funny holiday related thing (optional)
3:Put a gag/novelty item 15 dollars or under on your wishlist (and link it)
4:Be within the US.
Edit: Also, nothing too inappropriate. I use my mom's amazon account for gifting because she has prime and I don't on my own account.
I’m a woman and I would say my love language is gift giving but I run out of ideas ALL THE TIME. I’m tired of hearing the typical wallet, whiskey set, golf accessory stuff. I want to hear any underrated gift ideas (don’t care whether they’re $5 or $1000) preferably something for men in their 20s. Thank you!
I need some ideas. And please don't say a blowjob. I'm looking for NEW ideas.
EDIT: Anal is also not a new idea. Nice try though.
EDIT: My boyfriend is your average Redditor (i.e. he likes video games, bacon, terrible puns, and funny pictures of cats). He has an internet company so while he likes gadgets, I'm pretty sure he has all the gadgets he could want. The difficulty in buying him gifts is that he is a pretty simple guy. He doesn't have a lot of wants, and if he does he usually just orders whatever it is on Amazon. He also happens to be one of the best guys on the planet. He is ethical, sweet, funny, generous, and puts up with all my girly dramatics. He really deserves something special to show him how amazing he is.
hello, I'm really having a hard time thinking of a gift. he likes practical things and all I could think of are clothes, which I think are not meaningful enough. do you have any suggestions?
Just as stated above. My anniversary is coming up with my boyfriend, and I run into this issue with every birthday/christmas/anniversary/ etc. This is the first relationship I’ve been in where my partner is incredibly financially secure, and if he wants something he buys it. He’s not materialistic, though. His most lavish items are his electronics, but because he works so often he doesn’t get to indulge super often.
When he expresses desires to purchase something, it’s usually very focused towards house expansion or renovations, or something for the kids (I have a child from a previous relationship & we just had a baby). So he pretty much gives no hints to things I could buy for him that are realistic. I ask him all the time what he’d like for whatever occasion, and his answer is always SOCKS. Which is valid bc he’s always losing them, but I seriously need to get him something more meaningful than socks for our anniversary. Please help !!
Our good buddy is turning 40 in 2 weeks and we’ve already planned a crazy trip for our friend group but we still need a ridiculous and possibly inappropriate birthday gift to surprise him with! I’ve googled a ton and found all the typical ideas (whiskey glasses, watches, etc.) and that’s just too boring for this dude. Our friend likes to live life on the wild side, is VERY adventurous, loves the outdoors, extreme mountain sports, big traveler, a hell of a chef and the best girl dad! TYIA for the ideas!
Me and a friend have an annual 'who can get the most stupid present' event and this year i am turning to you.
Haha didnt expect to get this many replies so i have now decided i will select the most stupid gift and send my friend and the winner the selected present. Thanks for the awesome ideas so far, will let you know who wins in tomorrows edit. Also will post reaction pics.
Ok so some amazing suggestions so far, currently debating on a winner with a friend. I'll list the best ones so far, also dont forget the winner will also recieve the gift and i will post reaction pics from my friend when she opens it.
In debate so far:
Photo of random drunk old stranger in nice frame.
Life size cardboard cut out of myself with an autographed black and white potrait.
Barney the dinosaur season 4 on VHS.
Begginers Microsoft office 98.
Low quality, wired (with roller ball) computer mouse.
Winrar subscription.
Printer ink in a water cooler gallon.
Pet steps.
Fleshlight smelling of burnt rubber and seed.
Fully functional dirty stop sign.
Expensive, hard to maintain, tropical salt water fish with no tank or food.
Keep the ideas flying out and i will announce the winner in the next few edits. Thanks Reddit for all the suggestions so far.
I get downvoted because i said “sex 😆”. So, what does men really want?
I'm searching for the best gifts for men and wow the internet is full of the same generic stuff. I do love to hear real suggestions from people who actually gave (or received) something meaningful.
Whether it’s birthday gifts for men, Christmas gifts, gifts for him just because, or even holiday gift ideas for men, what has actually worked for you? Something high quality, useful or unique anything that made someone say “WOW I needed this.”
Looking to avoid anything cheap or gimmicky. Just great ideas that stand the test of time. Thanks in advance for helping me (and probably others) find something truly worth gifting!
