Target Futon Tips
Where to buy futon (not Walmart/Target)
A decent futon sofa bed?
Anybody here use a sofa bed as their primary bed? Any recommendations?
I sleep on a japanese futon with tatami mats.We fold it most days, and on the days we don’t it looks ugly, but because of the tatami mats, the space in front of the bed is unusable.
Sofa beds can be really easy to fold up because of springs/mechanism built into the frame. My only concern would the quality of the mattress, because they can sometimes be really soft and unsupportive. I did a week vacation where we folded up the couch every day and it was easier and less awkward than dealing with the futon. Ultimately if you need the space it should force you to do the chore!
the other downside of sofa beds is that they are heavy and large. i live in an apartment where a regular sofa and a queen mattress would not fit up the stairs.
how old are you? I slept on a Target futon, the black kind that folds in half, that had a dead spring in it, for months when I was 20. i swear as long as you exercise enough you can sleep like a log on any surface, especially if you’re a young person.
I am actually thinking of getting a bed frame for my futon to improve air circulation below the tatamis, because i’m tired of folding and having a pile of bedding on the floor instead of just a bed. Would love to know if anyone does that or has horror stories of their bed frame not being able to support the weight of the tatamis.

Hey all! I hope this is a good place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone has had this futon from target (https://www.target.com/p/futon-sofa-black-room-essentials-8482/-/A-80944740#lnk=sametab), and had any recommendations for a good cover for it? It's starting to get a little dirty and I am a bit of a messy person by nature, so I would love something I can put over it to protect it. Everything I see on Wayfair seems a little large or meant for an actual futon mattress, not a futon built into the frame.
Bonus points for any tips you have to make it more comfortable! Right now I have some blankets on it to provide a little more padding, but they tend to slip around a lot.
Thanks!
So apparently, daybeds and futons are a thing of the past.
Anyone know of a brick and mortar store in the Triangle that sells them?
❌ Walmart and Target have them, but I would like something a little higher quality like the solid wood midcentury modern futon I owned years ago.
✅ Seller must be able to deliver and bring item upstairs, so this excludes Amazon, Wayfair, etc.
❌ I’m not interested in a sleeper sofa. I live in a 3-story skinny townhome, making navigating the two flights of stairs difficult, it not impossible.
