After 1.5 years of use, let's dive into the long-term review of the Buds 2. First, let's talk about sound. Its audio quality is commendable for a TWS, earning an 8/10 rating from me. It's not overly bassy, but I do utilize the Wavelet app to fine-tune it to my liking.
Regarding its software/hardware, I've been using a case to protect it, resulting in almost no scratches or wear. However, I do find that the latching mechanism could be stronger. On occasions when it falls from a small height, the buds tend to scatter.
One standout feature is its Find Buds function, which has come in handy more than once. However, there are occasional bugs to note. For instance, sometimes the case light remains off even after charging, but a gentle tap usually resolves this issue. Additionally, there's a Bluetooth bug on Android where it occasionally produces noise, but reconnecting usually fixes it.
Overall, considering the price point, it offers an average user experience.

Been rocking these galaxy buds 2 since the past 2 years, they still sound as awesome as day 1. What are your thoughts on these? DO you like the buds 2 or the newer ones?? Personally, I don't like the design of the buds 3 for some reason, seem like a copy of the airpods.
I have a Galaxy A71 and a Galaxy Watch 4 so I knew Galaxy Buds would work great with these devices and I'm thinking of getting Buds 2 However on thy sub people are saying they are having battery issues with one earbud draining very fast ,for example, and the mic quality is poor. Are these rare cases or common occurrences? Are the Galaxy buds 2 worth it?
Bought Galaxy Buds 2 in July 2022. Already facing issues which seems like the hardware is falling apart. Right earbud has gone quiet, so much so that I've stopped using it altogether, only use the left one. Tried resetting them from the app, tried the earbud touch control trick to raise the volume, nothing worked. Saw a couple of videos that the front grill needs to be cleaned, which is not ideal.
They don't fit well either, constantly slipping off my ears, even jumping out with the slightest pressure at the jaw-ear joint. I've tried many different ear tips, from Comply TrueGrip foam tips to SpinFits sillicone tips. Nothing keeps them in. Went running with them, had to adjust them constantly, pushing again and again. I do have oily ears, so that's part of the issue, I'll admit.
I got these as a substitute to my Sony WF-1000XM3, just because of the quick connection (got a Samsung phone now) and smart find feature (even without the UWB). Sony ones are 1.5 years old, still works great, stays in my ear better (still slips out occasionally, but not as bad).
I really love the quick connection, size, and shape of the Galaxy Buds and the case. The battery life is insane, Sony ones last about 3 hours, Galaxy Buds goes for like 6 hours or more. It's a shame that the hardware don't last.
Would anyone recommend the Buds 2 pro or are they very similar to buds 2?
Sound Quality:
I'm an audiophile with sensitive ears and these are the only pair of earbuds that I can comfortably listen to. At least for me, they are not too bass heavy unlike Beats but I also wish the instrumental separation was a bit better. I've used these for podcasts and the sound is very clear with vocals, amazing listening experience.
Paring:
Pairing with Samsung devices is seamless, haven't experienced a single issue. The pairing with non-Samsung devices like my Windows 10 laptop was quick and reliable with zero disconnection issues.
ANC:
The active noise cancelling on these works good with "hmm" noises like an airplane or a bus. When someone is talking and the ANC is turned on it lowers their volume but sometimes you can still make out what they are saying, if a song is playing however, even at a low volume you cannot hear the person at-all. It's always best to play a song and then have the ANC on too to completely block out any noise.
Comfort:
I personally use the medium sized tips on these. The buds are so small, seriously. Being so small they fit in almost flush with my ear and "snug-in" with the shape of my ear. Comfort wise I have no issues with these, even with airplane listening sessions of up to 5 hours. They are not heavy at all and if you have ambient mode on you forget that they are even there.
Let me know if there are any other topics that you would like me to cover in the comments, I just wanted to cover the most important ones first. Free feel to ask me, ANYTHING.
Using this tweak on the Sound Assistant app the audio quality of these earbuds became SO much better. Highly recommended, from this post.
My Buds+ just missing, I'm so sad 😭 since I love it very much. Now looking for replacement, anyone have Galaxy Buds 2 that previously coming from Buds+, how the experience so far and how it fares compared to Plus? Does the lack of wingtip affect fit? Does it feels like an upgrade? Thx in advance
I switched to Buds 2 from Buds+ a while ago because I lost my Buds+. They were perfect for me and I did not plan to switch anytime soon until I lost them.
So anyway now I’ve been using the Buds 2 for a month and would like to share my experience with anyone contemplating the switch.
Pros:
-
The ambient sound mode is definitely a lot better. On the buds+, there’s kind of a white noise when you turn on the ambient mode, and the environment sounds sounded a little low quality if you know what I mean. The buds 2 lets you hear your environment sounds without too much exaggeration or extra white noise.
-
ANC is not that impressive, but I do find myself using it from time to time.
-
Voice call quality is significantly better.
Cons: The fit. When I put them on, they fit snugly and no amount of shake will make them drop but if I smile or move my jaw too much, they come loose. Tried the Spinfit CP1025 tips but they didn’t really solve the issue.
What didn’t change:
-
Lots of people are afraid of losing out on battery life switching from the plus, but I personally didn’t feel any difference. Might only be a problem if listening for more than 5-6 hours at a time is your thing.
-
Sound quality. Not the most knowledgeable when it comes to sound quality but personally, if there’s any improvement, I don’t think it’s significant.
The ambient mode on both Pro and 2 is much better (natural), and I agree, the sound really wasn't that different to justify this one compared to a Pro, which you can get at a decent price now. unless the pro has a major fit issue, I would go Pro,
I have owned the buds+, buds pro, and now the buds2 pro.
Tldr: I'm going back to the buds+
I love the buds+ so much that I bought a second set after losing the charging case. Then when my girlfriend ran those through the wash I got the buds pro as an upgrade, aaand the buds2 pro when I lost those. I liked the buds pro less than the buds+, and the buds2 pro less than those.
Nothing compares to the comfort and fit of the buds+, any improvements in sound quality, features and technology do not make up for it.
I do an intensely physical job, I need my earphones to stay in my ears with constant jerking head motions without needing to push them back in with dirty fingers. The buds+ were the only earbuds I've ever found that both accomplish this and fit comfortably enough to wear all day as if they're not even there.
The buds pro weren't quite as good but were decent, but importantly lacked the extra rubber pieces that made the buds+ so excellent. The ANC was a neat feature but I found that the "cabin pressure" was worse than ambient noise in most situations, and due to the buds+ superior fit helping to block noise it wasn't really that beneficial.
The buds2 pro are nice earphones if they fit you but I'm probably going to return them to Costco. They sound nice but they're uncomfortable for constant use, and I'm unable to get them to fit well enough to satisfy the apps fit test without constant adjustment. One other complaint is they're hilariously TOO small - I always drop them when trying to dig them out of my ears.
Even though they're several years out of date, I think I'm just going to buy a third set of the buds+
I just recently got a Galaxy A52s 5G for a family member (the phone is great for it's price range), and got the Buds 2 as a gift from the retailer (it's a promotional pack that they have going on right now).
I see youtube reviews praising them, while most facebook comments on tech pages that I follow say the exact opposite.
Haven't got my hands on them yet, but I'm really curious about what's up with them, the deal sounds a bit too good to be true.
Hey all, I got my Buds 2 Pro a few days ago and wanted to talk about them as information is a little lacking online.
Proof: https://imgur.com/a/9O06yA5
For background, I upgraded from the Buds+ to the Buds 2 Pro so the bulk of this review will be the differences between the two devices.
I'm not entirely familiar with the Buds 2 or the Buds Pro, but a friend of mine said one of those cases will fit the new ones perfectly fine. They also took away one-earbud Ambient Sound at some point between the Buds+ and 2 Pro, so rip.
Inside the box there are the Buds 2 Pro themselves, a USB-C to C cable, a very brief quick start guide, and the S/M/L eartips that are pretty normal at this point. Unsure if they're interchangeable with the other models. The Buds+ tips are too loose and fall off.
I have the white model, which is entirely matte plastic from the case to the buds. I've seen the other colors at Samsung's display in NY and black is more of a charcoal with purple looking like lavender.
Coming from the Buds+, the Buds 2 Pro have a slight hard plastic feel when you first put them into your ears. I'm used to the rubber wing around the edge. I believe they're supposed to be turned counterclockwise (away from you) to fit properly but I have no idea. Lack of guides and all. There's a fit test within Galaxy Wearable to help you out. I also can't find the touchpad for the life of me.
Once you get them in, the sound quality is fantastic. Everything sounds so much fuller than the Buds+. I think ANC could be a bit better but maybe that's a fit problem on my end. I can still hear people speaking with it on. Ambient Sound is fine.
360 Audio is really fascinating. I've only used it with music so far so I can't say how well it works with film or TV, but it seems to upmix stereo to surround. It's like the sound wraps around you instead of just in front of you.
Voice Detect: It takes a second to recognize your voice but lowers music volume and enables Ambient Sound when it does. Comes with various time-out options.
Battery Life: Unsure as I got covid right after my initial test of the earbuds and my head still feels like it's stuffed with cotton. Will update once I can hear normally.
There should be still one earbud ambient sound option. I have buds pro (1st gen) and they moved this option to Accessibility -> Noise controls with one earbud. Took me while to found it and even their support didnt notify me about this, had to find it by myself 😅
If they are like Buds 2, the touch pad should be kinda on the front edge.
Another masterpiece from Samsung Malaysia I had the opportunity to try it out apart from the Galaxy Watch5 that I as well have posted a long term review about it. Now that I've been using the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, it's time for me to share my thoughts with the Members.
In this review, I will be comparing the Galaxy Buds2 Pro with my current Galaxy Buds Pro in order to identify the differences and improvements better between these two.
Design
It was love at first sight. That’s the best I can say when I first held this Galaxy Buds2 Pro out of the box beside the beach <3. The first thing you will notice when you got this Buds unboxed is the soft touch matte coating on the built, which is known to be resistant to scratch. Even without the glossy finish, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro continue to have the most sophisticated style of all the earbuds on the market.
Galaxy Buds2 ProSpeaking about the bud’s design, I can consider it as a big improvement on the ergonomic aspect as to how pleasant the buds sit on my ears when I plug it in. Samsung claimed that the size of the buds has been reduced 15% compared to the Galaxy Buds Pro to give advantage to the ergonomic, and I proved the point. It’s extremely comfortable and lightweight to plug the Galaxy Buds2 Pro in my ears, and apart from leaving no pain at all after an extended use, especially when I lay down on my side, I sometimes forget that it is still attached on my ears the next morning !
Colours
Three attractive colors are available you can choose based on your preference: Graphite/ White/ Bora Purple. The Galaxy Buds2 Pro case's dimensions are exactly the same as those of the cases for the Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy Buds Live. If you’re planning to make an upgrade from the abovementioned models, you can keep your existing cases for this Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Personally, I don’t use any case despite the fact that I own a few since the design is just too nice for me to hide its beauty.
Graphite | White | Bora PurpleSet of ear tips are provided to allow you choose which size comforts your ears the most when it is being plugged into.
IPX7 Water Resistance
The Galaxy Buds2 Pro features IPX7 Water resistance which leaves me worry-free when I’m sweating during workout. This includes being caught up in the rain during the jogging activity, where the Galaxy Buds2 Pro can still resist to the raindrops very well.
Battery
I do turn on ANC all the time when I listen to songs while learning, and the Galaxy Buds2 Pro gives me around 5 hours of playtime, which is in line with what Samsung advertised to be 5 hours playtime with ANC enabled. There is nothing mentioned about fast charging capability on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro in Samsung websites, but I have the impression that the charging speed of the buds is noticeably quicker compared to its brother.
Active Noise Cancelling (ANC)
There have been a numerous newly added and refined features on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro from my current Galaxy Buds Pro which makes it a worthy upgrade. To start over, the biggest noticeable difference when I did the comparison between these two, the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) has really been improved on the Galaxy Buds2 Pro. Surrounding noise is greatly filtered out, making me feel as though I’m sitting in a vacuum room when the song isn’t playing.
Noise controlsSmartThings Find
Our moms are so much better at finding lost objects than we are. But when they aren’t around, SmartThings got you covered. This feature comes in handy when you misplace your buds somewhere in the house, or even somewhere on your bed. The earbuds' ringing sound has quite a strong loudness that could be heard across your house.
SmartThingsTouch controls
The touch controls have a good level of precision and sensitivity to detect the touches compared to the Galaxy Buds Pro. I enjoyed myself navigating the music just by controlling it on my earbuds instead of reaching my mobile device, apart from controlling it on my Galaxy Watch5 as well.
Touch controlsNeck stretch reminder
Stretching at work can reduce fatigue by increasing blood supply to your muscles. Since I often get myself forgotten to stretch after sitting doing the Internship stuffs, this feature comes in handy. The neck stretch reminder will notify me to get my neck stretch. Prior to the feature to be enabled, there will be some calibration steps to be done in the settings.
Neck stretch remindersSamsung Ecosystem
With seamless connectivity of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro across my Galaxy devices, my attachment to Samsung has never been so strong than ever. Whenever I watch any contents on my Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra to take benefit of its huge screen and receive a call on my Galaxy M62, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro will automatically switch it over without having me to manually done so. Not only for calls, but also when I start playing a song in Spotify as well. Marvellous.
Auto switchSummary
All in all, considering the significant improved ANC, better precision on touch controls, refined features, an upgrade to the Galaxy Buds2 Pro does worth your penny. If you are a student, don’t miss the chance to apply the Samsung Student Offers !
Thought I've leave my opinions on the sound quality compared between these two, honestly great, earbuds. The one track I'll use here is Purusha by NVDES. It has a great and easy to distinguish low end, mids, and highs, and in general is very punchy. I'd recommend listening to it to understand this better. Anyway, I'll start with the Buds2.
The Buds2 have a solid low end, specifically the thump in the bass. The bass is actually gives out more thump than the Galaxy Buds Pro, but in turn, the mids aren't clear. The mids usually will include voices, which the track I'm using has, if you listen to that track with both Buds you'll notice the difference immediately. The highs are also solid, the tweeter helps a lot, although some of the highs can get crushed due to the low end. In a TLDR, the Buds2 are pleasant but not clear. They're fun to listen to but lose some detail in the process. Then there's the soundstage, the Buds2 sound closed in from my testing. It's not jarring, just the Buds Pro shine here, which I'll mention soon.
The Buds Pro also have a solid low end, but the mids shine. Instead of letting most of the bass overpower the mids the Buds Pro control the mids so it's the center of the action. Meaning you'll hear a thump but you'll also hear everything else. The highs are crushed less in this one track compared to the Buds2, giving out a much more accurate and enjoyable experience out of the two. Now the soundstage, wow. It's great. Everything feels separated and open, more than the Buds2, and while it's not as great as some higher end options, it's definitely the best in Samsung's lineup as of now.
I'd personally pick the Galaxy Buds Pro, but my brother actually prefers the Buds2, so this brings me to personal preference. Everyone's ears and thoughts about sound are different. I listened to the track with lossless audio through Apple Music, but most people wouldn't be able to make out the difference let alone have Apple Music here. The Buds2 might actually be more fun to listen to. They're vibrant and lively. The Buds Pro though, live up to their name, they're quite clear, while delivering the fun that comes into listening to music.
Is it worth paying an extra $50 MSRP for the Pros, if we're comparing just sound? That's up to you, but I'd say, definitely. The Buds2 are great for their price, but the Buds Pro are also great for their price.
Sound preference definitely comes into this.
The BUDS Pro tend to more closely follow the Harmon sound curve, which tends to be more neutral. The Bass and highs are slightly elevated, but not so much that they mask and cover the mids. One thing to note, however, is you must get a really good deal with the Buds Pro to get the most out of them. As the bass isn't overly exaggerated if you don't geta good seal they might sound a little thin.
The Buds 2 follow a much more 'consumer' sound profile. That is, elevated bass, scooped mids and a tingly high end. Overall sound clarity drops (as most sound happens in the mid region that is now being masked by the bass) but the Buds sound more exciting and energetic.
Most people seem to confuse this excited sound as being better quality. It's often not, you usually lose a bunch of clarity for it, but people just assume Bass = Quality (thanks for nothing Beats by Dre.....). The Buds Pro certainly have better sound quality and clarity than the Buds 2, but I feel most people will prefer the Buds 2 due to it's more exciting sound. Given the relative shitty recording quality these days, with the massive compression and 'loudness wars' that go into music, most people won't even know the difference in sound quality regardless.
When we are talking about sound stage and width, they aren't even close. The Buds Pro are some of the widest true wireless earbuds I have heard, with great stage and imaging. It's really amazing. The Buds 2 sound flat and narrow compared to the Pro's.
Buds 2 are a lot bassier. I would be keeping mine since they fit better but my left bud is quieter and less bassy than the right.
Honestly super annoyed at the buds 2, upgraded from my buds live and the sound quality is almost the same just has a bit more base, the fit is noticeably worse. And earbud eject is a big issue, eating, walking, going up stairs, he'll bobbing your head they just pop out. The live stay in till I take them out, I've been in a fight with them on and they didn't get knocked out.
That's only the little issues, not that bad. But, it's been my 3rd replacement pair from Amazon that has a quieter earbud legit day 2 of replacement 3 the worst one yet. Legit can't even hear the little beeps or jingle thing when activating ANC or Ambient sound. On the right side. First pair was the left the other 2 have been the right. I'm getting annoyed...
Anyone have a fix for this issue, if not just gunna return them and stick with my trusty beans at least those are good headphones. Just was hoping for better ANC
Bruh. Don’t say something is bad just bc it doesn’t fit you. I’ve seen tons of people saying they fit better than any galaxy buds.
Had a big issue with eject. I went back to my buds+ with the wings until I saw someone in here recommend multi flange tips, which helped a ton. I now line the buds 2. https://www.amazon.com/diofit-Galaxy-Designed-Samsung-Eartips/dp/B098SMGF36/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa
My buds+ broke, due to a fault of my own. Was planning to buy another pair but I saw the Buds 2 have come out. Should I get those instead of the Buds+? I tried the Buds Pro prior to getting my now broken Buds+ and I hated the fit so I returned them and got the + instead. The buds 2 looks like a similar shape to the Buds+ so I am considering it.
What's the battery life like compared from the Buds+ to the 2?
Any bass difference between them two?
I thought the buds 2 were more similar to the pros?
Crinacle has measured them.
https://crinacle.com/graphs/iems/graphtool/?share=IEF_Neutral_Target,Buds2,Buds_Plus
The Buds 2 seem to be very much an update to the Buds+. They also share the same square double driver configuration.
Frequency response is very similar up to 2k. So bass seems to be virtually identical to the Buds+ (which means, it is excellent).
He said in his unboxing the Buds 2 fix the "bitcrushed" treble and also remove the shoutiness that the Buds+ suffered from. But, they now have a "sometimes-sibilant sharpness" in the treble.
I haven't heard them, but the bitcrushed treble and the shoutiness were the two big problems I had with the Buds+; I think I'd be able to deal with the extra bright treble OK, looking at the impressions and graph, I think these look like they are preferable sound-wise to the Buds+.
Then they are also lighter and smaller, I think would probably fit better as a result despite the lack of wingtips. And have ANC and probably a bit better ambient too.
Only real downgrade is the lower battery life, but it's still OK, 7.5h with ANC off.
If I was picking and they were the same price I'd get the Buds 2.
I've got a good price on them at 57 USD, I'm really looking forward on getting the Buds 2. Should I get them?
Firstly, they work out of the box. Secondly, both earbuds default to only short press for pause/play and long press to change between ANC and ambient mode. There’s also a bit of latency when watching Youtube BUT this is what you need to do;
Borrow an android device from anyone and download the Galaxy Wearable app and the Buds2 plugin, update the buds (this can be done in less than 5 minutes). Set the touch control for both earbuds (mine is noise control on left bud long press and smart assistant;Siri on the right buds. Also turn on the double tap and triple tap to control the tracks). Go to labs and turn on volume control if you want them. The feature works by tapping the edge of the buds, but here’s a tip; tap your ears and they work too. You can also set noise control to work with one earbuds. This feature works similar to the Airpods Pro, when you take off one earbud, the other one will change to to whatever mode you set them to. What I do is to have the one earbud on ambient mode whenever I take off the other one. And turn off the seamless device switching (i forgot the actual name of this settings, but it’s for switching the buds between Samsung devices and you don’t need that and also I read somewhere it helps with latency. I have no more latency issue but I really cant tell if it’s because I turned the setting off or simply due to the update).
Now the review; they sound better than the Airpods Pro, they cancel as much noise as the Airpods Pro, their ambient mode is really good and does not sound robotic, you can hear the outside world really well but your own voice will still be muffled, I think the Airpods Pro has an extra mic to solve this.
TL:DR, update the buds and save some money. Unless you really need spatial audio or seamless switching between Apple devices (which don’t even work well for me, I have a Mac, and iPhone, an iPad and an Apple Watch). Btw it’s really easy to use Buds 2 with multiple devices, you don’t need to disconnect them from your current device, just hit connect on your other device and they will disconnect automatically.
