I scraped different reddit threads where people were asking for the best gaming headsets across different communities. Then I ran a sentiment analysis through a software to see which headsets got positive reviews consistently and which ones got mixed reactions and which got negative reviews.
Right now this is still very much a work in progress so I’m looking for some feedback on which ones I should be looking for in my analysis.
My goal isn’t just to find what’s most mentioned but what reddit actually trusts because reddit is what most of us turn to for authentic recommendations.
You can see the threads and comments that I scraped on my website which is called Reddit Vetted. Detailed breakdowns for all these headsets (like in the pic) are also up on the site in case you want to get into this further. Again, I’m planning to add more models.
Here is a list of the headsets I’ve analyzed so far (still adding more to this list based on feedback):
AOC Gaming Headset
HyperX CloudX
HyperX Cloud III Headset
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 1
Corsair Void
Alienware AW520H
Logitech G Pro X2
Turtle Beach Recon 200
Turtle Beach Stealth 600
Razer BlackShark V2 X
Turtle Beach Recon 70
Turtle Beach Recon 50X
Razer Kraken Gaming Headset
Ozeino Gaming Headset
My whole method:
– Scraped Reddit threads from different “best gaming headsets” threads.
– Cleaned and filtered comments to capture real product mentions.
– Pulled out product names, analyzed sentiment and context (some more complicated stuff here)
– Scored each item based on how often it’s mentioned and how positive those mentions are (reviews are broken down into 3 categories: positive, negative and neutral)
– Combined duplicate models and brand variants so the rankings weren’t skewed by repetition (more complicated stuff)
– Added a clean category search and visual summaries (like in the pic).
I am really interested in your feedback. Any headsets you feel are missing from the list entirely? Mention here and I’ll find more threads to analyze them next because this is an ongoing project that I actually learned a lot from. I want to keep working on it till I perfect my analysis, and build something that will actually help everyone in the future. I would love more input on how I can improve.

Checked pretty much everything there is on the internet, but most posts are too old now. What I need the most is it to be wireless and preferably have Game/Chat mix. I’m planning to use in only for my PC (for PS5 I have been using Astro A50 gen 4 for 5 years, they are still fine, but I want something new and better + I’m tired to take them from my PC to PS5 every time, so I need one dedicated headset only for my PC).
So, out of all headsets here are my picks:
Logitech G Pro X 2 (not sure about the sound, tried them, Cloud 3s sounds better IMO)
Hyper X Cloud 3s (no game/chat mix and 3,5mm unfortunately)
Astor A50X (there is no A50 gen 5 in my country and + I don’t want to have 2 almost the same headsets LOL)
Razer BlackShark v3 pro (not a fan of Razer overall, but noise canceling sounds amazing)
Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (heard that it has connection and cracking sound, same as I have on Arctis 7 back in a day)
I also had Audeze Maxwell and sold them, unbearably HEAVY, but sounded the best out of all BY FAR.
If you have any other recommendations, please, feel free to share.
For now I like Cloud 3s the most, probably. But lack of Game/Chat mix and 3,5 jack is what holds me back.
I also have HD6xx and I love them, but I hate wires when playing.
This is part of my project to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops.
The idea is to highlight which gaming headsets got the most love specifically in the context of first person shooters. To be clear, most love =/= best. But hopefully it’s a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by the options.
Any surprising rankings?
If you want to dig into the raw data, you can do so on the project page (google “RedditRecs”).
You can explore the original comments, filter by price, wireless vs wired, subreddits, comments about durability etc. Disclaimer - the page has some affiliate links. You don’t have to use them. They help fund the analyses though.
Methodology in the comments.
I want to surprise my boyfriend with a new headset. I don't have a ton of money, but I'd like to get him a really nice, highly recommended headset. He uses it for game audio and chatting with friends. Sometimes he can get loud, so something that allows him to still hear his surroundings (?) would be great, but also still have great audio and mic capacity.
I know nothing about technology, I don't even know what headset he uses right now... So please give me the full name/model of the headset you recommended and what you like about it.
Thanks :)
Edit: thank you all for the recommendations. I have a lot to look over. His current headset says G Pro (I don't see any numbers), and I'd say my budget is $200 or less.
As above, can someone recommend the best one available today purely for gaming? I wanted a Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless but am left confused due to the mostly negative posts about it here on Reddit but positive reviews about it on YT. I wanted a Logitech headset to match all my other peripherals that will be from them too but the price and Reddit posts are putting me off.
Ideally want a slightly cheaper (but good quality) one around £150. I know the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is pretty good as well as the Audeze Maxwell but those are much more expensive.
After some research, the three less pricey ones I get are the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) and V2 Hyperspeed as well as the HyperX Cloud Alpha. Anyone here use these?
Are Logitech's Astro series any good? Or any other Logi headset that's better than the G Pro X 2?
Thanks in advance for the advice/comments.
They announced it on their Instagram page here. Surprised no one had posted about it yet.
The post says:
A new flagship hi-fi gaming headset is coming…
Powered by HIFIMAN, built to set a new bar for gaming audio.
Hi-fi precision meets tactical performance.
Unveiling at ROG #CES2026.
Stay tuned. 🔥🎧
But the video itself is very vague and gives next to no information. Literally "this could've been an email" type of thing. The post does give us a good jumping off point though.
IMO this can go one of two routes:
HiFiMan takes one of their existing headphones and rebrands it for ASUS. Probably something like the Edition XS. Maybe they do a couple of tweaks to the sound and ASUS adds a boom mic on the cable.
ASUS and HiFiMan actually make a new wireless gaming headset. HiFiMan provides the base headphone and ASUS adds the gamer stuff on top. Like the mic, the software suite, the RGB.
Probably the most interesting thing about this is that HiFiMan is very well known for their traditional audiophile open back headphones, but all their wireless and closed back stuff might as well not exist. So for them to team up with ASUS who presumably wants to make a wireless closed back gaming headset is pushing into a realm where they haven't been successful in. Of course, DSP could go a very long way to fixing any of the issues if they implement it right.
I wrote a longer analysis here if anyone's interested. There's a general audiophile primer in there for any gamers who came across this thread and are completely new to the hi-fi space.
What do you guys think? Feels like there's quite a few possibilities this could go in. Any bets on what it's gonna be called? HiFiMan likes their sanskrit names like Susvara, Sundara, Ananda, etc. but then have generic stuff like Edition XV or HE400se.
Edit: Oh I should also mention that we also have the Maxwell 2 coming at CES as well.
Edit 2: I should also mention that The Headphone Show is getting a review unit so expect a review when embargo lifts.
I'm making a post for this because I did a lot of research and didn't really find a whole lot on this topic, particularly with the gaming aspect.
I like to buy quality products that I can get a large amount of utility out of. I don't like buying a lot of different stuff for similar tasks. I'm also a big proponent of buying high quality products so you don't have to repeat buying things every year or so, but I'm also a bargain hunter.
I like to listen to music, I game casually, I travel occasionally and I work from home 10 hours a day, 4 days a week and have a headset on most of the day. I went out and did a bunch of research and I settled on the Steel Series Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headset.
It is a pretty freaking expensive headset at about $350, but I found a set on eBay new without a box for $180. My credit card had some promo and I was able to get another $30 off too. Total delivered to my door was about $160, which is only about $50 more than my last gaming headset (that still works) I bought 3 years ago.
Here are the main bullet points of why I bought it:
Can connect to 3 devices at once.
2 via USB and 1 Blutetooth.
USB devices connect to a bluetooth transmitter, which broadcasts to the headset.
1 USB connection and 1 Bluetooth connection can be streamed SIMULTANEOUSLY (yes, it works and its great). I have them connected to my phone all the time while I'm working or gaming.
Transitioning between 1 USB device and the other is pretty easy and can be done via the headset itself or on the desktop transmitter (which is also pretty neat).
It has easy to use software to adjust equalizer settings
Con is those settings only work with the device you have the software on.
The transmitter device has an equalizer as well with a ton of presets for different games and can customize settings. I haven't played with this too much yet.
Retractable Microphone
The mic is actually pretty neat and a major reason why I made this purchase. It is stored in the left ear can and you can easily push it in or pull it out. It is flexible. Great for when you want to just use these as headphones and don't want to have a mic sticking out.
Con is the mic is directional and doesn't work super great when its pushed all the way in. Not the end of the world, but would be better if the mic was better when retracted.
It also has an LED light on the mic to remind you if you have the mic muted. The light brightness is also adjustable.
My coworkers have also said the quality of my mic has significantly improved.
Hot swapable batteries
It comes with 2 batteries. The desktop transmitter has a slot for charging one at a time, which is pretty cool.
The headset also has a USB C charging port under the cover on the right ear can if you're traveling with them and don't have the desktop transmitter.
Active Noise Cancelling and Transparent Sound
My ears are still getting used to this, but the ANC is good and there is a transparent sound feature as well. You can turn the ANC on or off either on the headset or on the transmitter.
There are also a couple microphones on the ear cans which transmit sound from your surroundings into your headset. You can turn this feature on or off and even adjust the volume. Great if you have kids and need to keep an ear out, but stay in your working world at the same time.
Those are the hilights. The most disappointing thing with these so far is the sound quality, but it isn't the worst sound quality.
The sound quality isn't even close audiophile quality. I tested a Sennehiser Momentum 4 Wireless (which holy fuck they sound amazing) headset which have infinitely better sound quality, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. The Arctis Nova Pros have fine audio quality, but could definitely be better. Hopefully the next gen will be better at this price point.
I looked into Epos Gaming Headsets since they used to be apart of the Sennehiser family, but the fixed microphone turned me away. The Senneheiser M4W I tried were great, but switching between devices was not ideal and I couldn't game with them (realistically).
I also looked into the Bose QC35 II Gaming Headset, but opted to not try it because the mic for gaming is wired. Also, reviews stated mic sound quality for calls on Teams/Zoom/ other WFH apps was poor. Switching between devices was also a reason.
The SteelSeries Arctric Nova Pro Wireless headset is comfortable. I've worn them for 12 hours straight. I'm still using the original earpads, which are a faux leather and can make my skin a little sticky/sweaty, but it isn't the end of the world. I'm going to get different ones soon.
SteelSeries Arctric Nova Pro Wireless Con List:
Subpar sound quality for the price point
The bass is pretty disappointing, even after adjusting the levels on the equalizer software.
Directional microphone/no omnidirectional microphone to use while microphone is retracted for phone calls while on the go (not in the house). Not a huge con, but a con.
No hard case
Only came with a soft bag made of sports jersey material
Setup was mostly easy, but ran into issues that were not covered on the support page and had to do more digging.
Turns out if you have the desktop transmitter plugged into a less powerful USB port on a device, you can still be connected, but no audio will be transmitted. The fix is to plug it into a different USB. I haven't had an issue since.
Overall I'd rate the SteelSeries Arctric Nova Pro Wireless headest an 8/10 for an all around use headset.
I know these are actually made for gaming and there is no device that can actually do everything, but these are pretty damn close.
If they can improve sound quality and add an omnidirectional microphone so I don't have to have a mic boom in my face all the time, these would be a homerun.
Looking for a good one that is this budget and has a good mic and can last long😸
Want to treat myself nice this Christmas and get myself a new headset, been using a Razor Kraken V2 but it’s seen it’s better days and time to get an upgrade. I would really like the audio quality to be good and mic quality but I am not versed on what’s good and what’s not
