LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
United States. I’d like to find a deal to get something in the lower side of the 1,000-2,000$ range.
Are you open to refurbs/used?
Yes! Not much buying experience so would have to be something trusted or with warranty.
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Looking for a simple gaming laptop. Needs to be reliable and powerful but will always be plugged in. Also something that has good cooling.
How important is weight and thinness to you?
Does not matter at all to me.
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
No preference! Also fine with a basic display quality. I’m willing to heavily skimp on the display resolution and quality.
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Mostly gaming! Potentially running live performance music software. I also stream to friends occasionally but high quality streaming is not important to me.
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
I play a lot of different games but I want to run Monster Hunter Wilds well when it releases. I don’t care for much above 60fps but I do want high quality graphics.
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Again, reliability and cooling is my biggest factor. I don’t care about keyboard or track pad feel as long as it doesn’t break. I exclusively use a mouse and headset. Extra bells and whistles do not matter to me either. I occasionally use my tv as a monitor. And 32GB of ram.
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
In short my requirements are:
32GB ram (I know that might be overkill but it is what I’m looking for. I’m willing to get one with less if I can swap it to 32GB and save a buck)
Best CPU & GPU in the price range
Won’t overheat and throttle performance. I’m aware that many laptops do get hot and I’m also open to alternative cooling methods like a cooling pad. Just can’t deal with a laptop that cuts performance or breaks because of thermal issues.
Can use a tv as my monitor at times.
Reliable and as long lasting as possible.
Windows
Thank you!
