I would buy a cheap flat file (and handle) at Lowe’s or Harbor Freight. Unless your loppers are seriously damaged, sharpening with a flat file should take less than five minutes.

I’d like to start sharpening multiple tools, so I’m not constantly throwing them out/repurchasing them. The main item being spade bits, but I’d also like to sharpen other items as well: my lawn mower blade, scissors, knives, etc.
So, is there a recommended universal purchase to do all this? I understand different blade sizes and/or types will likely be needed. Thanks for the help!

The tool that I would suggest to sharpen gardening tools, outdoor use knives, and western style kitchen knives would be a Norton oil stone. They are quite inexpensive, great to use, a nice case is available, they last a long time. Mineral oil is cheap and suggested, oil can be messy but there's a trick to these: you can load them up with Vaseline, soak it in with heat, repeat until they are saturated, then they basically become splash and go stones that can even be used dry occasionally. Norton's oil stones have two primary categories - Crystolon and India. Both come in coarse, medium, fine. The Crystolon are more coarse than the India. They sell combo stones with a coarse and fine Crystolon (JB8) and a Crystolon and an India (IC6). The Crystolon would be more suited to your gardening tools, lawnmower blades, and the India would finish off a finer edge on your knives, scissors. The only shortcoming to mention here is that the India will not be a good choice for higher hardness, high carbide EDC type steels as you might find on expensive pocket knives.
