My mower bit the dust towards the end of last mowing season, I ended up just paying someone to do the last 2 mows rather than buying one at the end of the season.

I don’t know anything about YardMax. I can say that the toro you have linked I owned for exactly one day a returned it because the self propelled stopped working within a few hours of operation. The unit itself felt very cheap. I own a toro TimeMaster is it’s been a great piece of equipment. Toro overall is a good brand, but their quality has definitely gone down in the last few years mostly on their more affordable stuff. If you can, I would aim for just above $500 and get the Honda HRN. Home Depot is selling them for one more season and they’re starting at $549. This would be a better mower than either of the ones you’ve listed. I am really struggling to decide between the Toro Super Recycler and the comparable Honda HRX217, both priced around $799.
I am a big Honda car guy and rarely have any issues with them. However, I have a very old Toro Super Recycler given to me used that has been great for me, but it has seen its end after two decades of use.
I am curious if any of you have one of these two mowers and can give some feedback please. Thanks in advance!

Going to start mowing lawns as a 1 man operation. Obviously on a budget. Wondering what the best lawn mower would be for under $150. Ideally no gas, and would have a catch basket for clippings.

It will be gas and used. I would look for a Toro Recycler or similar...if you're doing this to make money self propelled will be a godsend about 2/3 through your day. Electric isn't an option because of cost and if you are going to try and make money you need to be able to keep moving and not wait for batteries to charge (or buy enough batteries to make it throughout the day). I made a LOT of money as a one man operation back when I was in school one summer..it was actually a really good gig. Get people on a schedule and once you have a rotation it's basically cruise control.

I am closing on my first house this week and am looking to buy a gas push mower for a relatively flat 9k sq ft yard. I am definitely on a budget, wouldn’t want to spend more than $400 on a mower and would like to spend less if it makes sense. I do not need it to be self-propelled. I see 3 general options:
Buy a new, higher quality mower like a Toro (usually $340+)
Buy a new, cheaper mower like a Power Smart or Senix (closer to $220 on Walmart). Most of these options seem to have mixed reviews online.
Find a used mower on Facebook Marketplace for $50-$150 that seems to run fine.
Given that minimizing costs in the short-term is a high priority, does anyone have advice on what route would be the best investment/decision? Is there a specific push mower that fits my criteria that you would recommend? Thank you in advance.

Murray lawn mower. You can’t kill them. When new ones die/break, it’s back to the Murray that I’ve not started for 4+ years, and it starts right up. Murray’s are work horses!

My choice is the local, independent small engine dealer. I would have had Honda on top of the list, but Honda is getting out of the market this September, and has pulled a number of models off the shelves due to engine problems so I would skip. Leaves you with Ariens Razor dual blade, Snapper, or Toro. My Toro Personal Pace is now well past 20 years, still works well. My kids purchased for fathersday a Kobalt 40v as its replacement, it cannot cut wet or thick grass, barely lasts over 30 minutes. The Toro short of catastrophic failure isnt going anywhere. I also like the dealer since they will unbox, test, adjust and deliver if needed. Quite a few redditors in the last few weeks, purchased, a big box mower, brought it home, assembled, only to find it not working and having to repeat the process. One person had to do this twice.
