February 2, 2023 -
Hey! I figured i'd post this here since someone might know.I know this might seem like a meme picture and it is(?), but long story short: I was arguing with a friend whether this was a duck or a goose, and even tho the debate ended I'm still really curious to know what it actually is (and who was right.)
Alternatively, please let me know where i could have more luck finding an answer. Everything works really!

Definitely a duck, a goose would have a differently shaped bull bill and even at this angle would have a visibly longer neck

Easiest way to tell ducks from geese is where their nostrils are. Geese nostrils are in the middle of the beak, ducks' are almost to their hair line. Uh, feather line. This picture is a bit tricky because of the spot in the middle of her beak about where goose nostrils would be. You can see the raised ring of beak around the real nostril. The bird's size and rounded beak tip also give it away.

One of the reasons many farmers enjoy ducks instead of chickens in their backyard flock is that they are much quieter. A quacking duck can make a racket, but nothing compared to a rooster’s crow or a goose’s honk.
