Google is offering Gemini Pro Student for free to university students.
My university email is linked to Google, and I tried to redeem the offer while logged into my university account.
Google sent a code to my university email and validated the email. After validation, I was asked to switch to a personal account. I switched to the personal account, but nothing happened, and I can't complete the offer redemption at all.
I tried starting over, this time logged into my personal account, but an error message appeared saying that the email is already in use.
Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know how to resolve it?

I'm a PhD student in the UK trying to redeem the 1-year Google Gemini student offer, but I keep getting the error message "This account isn't eligible for Google AI plan" no matter what I try.
What I've attempted:
Used my personal Gmail account (the one I normally use for everything)
Created a brand new Gmail account with my UK address while physically located in the UK (no VPN)
Verified I meet all the basic requirements (PhD student, correct age, UK resident)
The confusing part: When I try using my business email account, it actually works and shows the student offer as available. However, I don't want to use my business email for this.
My question: Has anyone else encountered this issue with personal Gmail accounts being flagged as ineligible for the student plan? Is there something specific about account history, settings, or verification that might be causing this?
I'm genuinely puzzled why my business email works but personal accounts don't, even freshly created ones. Any insights or similar experiences would be appreciated!
Additional context:
Currently in the UK, no VPN usage
All accounts use legitimate UK addresses
PhD student at a UK university
Age requirement definitely met

I know Gemini is available in the UK, but is the 1-year free student trial available for UK residents as well, or US only? I know it worked well for me, but I am in the US. It could also be that they only have the promotion active at certain times of the year (like before school starts).

Have you ever taken any other Gemini trials or other Google offers before on that account? I wonder if it thinks you are in-eligible for some reason like that. 😕
