I've been using GPT-5 Pro for a while now, and I really enjoy the Deep Research and Pro Thinking features. I often use these two together; doing research and then asking pro-thinking questions. They've been super helpful for designing my game mechanics. Just last weekend, I bought Gemini Ultra out of curiosity about what it can do. My first test was about marketing services for a technical consulting company. It came up with some great ideas, where GPT-5 was a bit behind for the same research. Since then, I've run quite a few deep research sessions, mostly on technical topics like designing cloud architectures and creating trade-off documents. Besides that one marketing example, I think GPT-5 Pro was a bit better overall. I haven't found a strong reason to ditch GPT Pro and switch fully to Gemini Ultra yet. Also, I haven't been able to use Deep Thinking because I keep getting system busy messages. UPDATE: I was able to run Deep Thinking on Gemini for analyzing my game mechanics (it's a 4X game, with complex rules). It's nowhere near GPT-5, sorry :) With GPT-5, I found cross-references between rules, inconsistencies between different phases of the game, and gaps in the economic model, but with Gemini 3, it was just a short list of really obvious issues. Folks my main use case is product development, deep market research, and product strategy. I code a good chunk myself but use AI for that as well. Have been a GPTPro user so far but thinking of switching to the much hyped Gemini 3.0 on the Ultra tier.

I would say the Gemini Ultra plan only really makes sense if you're going to take advantage of everything that comes with it. Meaning specifically the Veo 3.1 credits. Otherwise you get pretty much everything you would otherwise need out of just a regular Gemini subscription. The only thing you'd be missing is the Deep Think version of Gemini 3 Pro, and I guess you wouldn't get as much deep research, but you'd still be able to pull some. In my workflow I switch between ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok 4.1 depending on the task as I've found they have different quirks that work better in specific situations.

With Google launching their premium subscription tier, anyone else feel a bit let down by chatgpt pro?

The performance on benchmarks wipes the floor with o3, plus with all available tools and google space integration, there is no way for openai to catch up is there?

Anw given that gemini pro (the 20 bucks) subscription competes well with chatgpt pro for everything I've tried so far, I can only imagine how good the premium will be. Currently awaiting international rollout to make the switch

One thing that really turns me off is the terms of service, which, if I’ve understood them correctly, if you want to save your history, you are also allowing google to use it for training. As I use my AI professionally, I’d want to save my history to memory but I don’t want that to be used for training. OpenAI allow you to turn off the option to use your data for furthering training.

Gemini Advanced I think this is the best for writing and creativity. I think it’s far better than GPT4 on writing quality. I tried it will fictional stories and it’s far more creative, relies less on cliche, has a stronger grasp on narrative. GPT has an over-the-top default writing style that’s easy to identify like “delves”, is predictable and cliches. Gemini took writing in unexpected directions, more creative, and in terms of conversational feels more human-sounding. It’s also good for feedback and ideation. GPT is a “yes-man” and just agrees with anything regardless of how good. It has to be prompted to be critical.
