The Geothermal Generator produces EU by consuming lava, which may be supplied by buckets, Universal Fluid Cells (or consumable Lava Cells in older versions), or directly from an adjacent block such as a Pump or Fluid Distributor. Every 1 mB of lava consumed produces 10 EU, so that every bucket ...

Geothermal Generators Randomly Stop Generating [Tekkit 2]
Basically a softlock that the Geothermal Generator can run into. If the energy loss is greater or equal to the amount stored in the geo gen it can not output. And it can only produce power if the buffer is 100% empty. Solution: As long as the copper cable is only 2 blocks long you won't have any loss. Meaning throw in 2 blocks of copper cable and have geo gens pump into a LV Transformer. Which limits the power output per tick to 128 EU meaning you can attach 6 geo generators. Or use cables that have less energy loss. (Glassfiber cable) This is a issue since 1.4.7 IC2, but I can not fix it until 1.19.2... And this has been deemed a feature until then. More on reddit.com

r/tekkit on Reddit: Geothermal Generators Randomly Stop Generating [Tekkit 2]
October 25, 2022 -

Hello!

I am still learning Tekkit 2, having only gotten halfway into Tekkit 1 maybe a year ago, so there is A LOT I am still learning.

I have a BC Pump in the Nether, pumping lava into an Ender Tank, and a World Spike keeping my Nether pump active.

This Ender Tank is tied to 3 Ender Tanks in the overworld (all the vanilla 3 white stripe top). These tanks fill, as expected. I have them hooked into a wooden pipe with a Redstone engine, and feeding directly into my Geothermal Generators.

Up to this point, everything works - the tanks stay filled (as long as I remember to feed the World Spike), as do the pipes and the generators themselves. When I right-click into the Generators, they are nicely filled with lava.

I understand Insulated Copper Cables are far from the best, but I keep my machines within 10 blocks of the generators. I have the copper cables running, at most, 6-10 wire segments into my machines.

I have one tied to a Circuit Fabricator and an Electrical Engine, which feeds into Kinesis Pipes that feed many of my Rf machines. This one has no issues ever. This one is also the only one where the Ender Tank feeds to a regular glass Tank, and then into the Geothermal Generator. There is actually a 4th Geo Gen feeding off of this, but it isn't active at this time. It also does has the same issues as the other 2, which is odd seeing as it is fed by the same system that feeds the one that always works.

The 2 that do not work just have an Ender Tank, a Wood Fluid Pipe (Pulling with a Redstone Engine), and into the Geothermal Generators. As mentioned, this all works, and the GeoGens are filled with lava. One of them has 10 Copper Cables feeding 2 Macerators (Industrial Craft). The other has 8 Copper Cables feeding an Electric Furnace (Industrial Craft).

The Furnace and the Macerator are both filled with an input (Iron Ore and Iron Dust respectively). The GeoGens both will activate, generate power, charge up the Macerators and the Furnace, and produce 1-2 outputs (IE one Iron Ore turns into 2 Iron Dust; I will either get 2 or 4 Iron Dust. The Furnace is 1:1 so I get one Ingot from one Dust), and then stop functioning.

Sometimes, I can get them to re-activate by using a Wrench on the Geo Gens and then re-placing them where they were, but they still only work for 1-2 outputs each.

Are the glass Tanks that much of a factor? Is there something I am missing?

Any help is massively appreciated; screenshots can be provided if needed.
