So I was wondering is it bad to update my bios through the GGC ,cause I saw most ppl saying to not do it but most of the time they don't explain why . I know that at some point there was a problem that the GGC had a vulnerability and you could get virus from it ,but I know that vulnerability is fix so my question is can you use GGC now or you could still get virus from it ?

Gigabyte software is shit and can barely be trusted to even open, it absolutely should NOT be trusted with BIOS updates. Same goes for any BIOS updates done in Windows. It just adds completely unnecessary risk. Done the traditional way, you've only got to worry about a power cut, do it via software in windows and now you have to worry about power cuts, windows fucking up or the software fucking up.

has anyone used the 'official' bios update thing from their website?
Just got a new vid card, and having issues getting it to work properly.
googling showed people with similar mobo's to mine saying 'bios update' fixed issues, so looking I might have to update mine (if it aint broke don't touch it was my motto).
I saw that there is the bios update program thing via their website, and wondering how 'reliable' it is, if people have used it, or if I should just say 'stuff it' and toss everything on a flash drive and update the old fashioned way.
Mostly just trying to calm my paranoia because bios updates are the one thing that I worry the most over. I don't want a brick for a computer.

I use the gigabyte control center. I have the z790 Aorus and the 3080 Aorus. I only update the BIOS when I have to through here and a video card drivers. You've been using it for years. Never had a problem with it. Takes about 20 seconds to update your bios

There is no app. You need to do via bios for easiest option. Carefully see that you download right bios for the motherboard model and revision https://www.gigabyte.com/webpage/161/software-1-1.html

Guys, he knows what you're saying. But he runs a tech center. He's very familiar with doing it via a USB thumb drive. But that is the older antiquated way. He prefers doing it via internet connection. He also loves that Dell mobos allow this option

1 tip of advice, never update your bios (the most important software component that literally allows your system to function) through an app. Look up a video and do it the old fashioned way if you actually care about your system.
