Help :( i’m constantly getting error code 22 and i have absolutely no idea what it means, i’ve just finish building and i’ve tried reseating everything, 1 stick of ram at a time, cleared cmos, flashed my bois, tried a different kit of ram and i’m still getting error 22.
does anyone know what it is? :/ google ain’t helping me
edit: i forgot to mention it’s not posting, no signal at all, can’t boot to bios
Hi
Recently I built a PC myself. From the beginning I have the problem that when I turn on the PC it freezes at the POST screen and I see a code 22 on the Status LED on the motherboard. Then I have to restart the PC and then it starts up further. I already installed all the drivers About a week ago I couldn't get rid of the error code and the PC kept freezing as soon as it got to the Windows login screen. I have been forced to reinstall Windows 11 and now I have the option to enter my Windows again, but I still get the error code 22 at startup, as I described earlier. I am afraid that I will run into the same problem later and I will have to reinstall my OS again.
Do I need to change the settings in BIOS to optimize the usage of the hardware installed? Or am I doomed with a defective hardware?
My hardware set up is:
Motherboard: Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7
BIOS version: F7b
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
CPU Cooling: DeepCool LD360
GPU: ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 OC Edition
RAM: Corsair DDR5 Vengeance 6000 MHz 32GB (2x16GB kit) RGB CMH32GX5M2B6000Z30K
PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 1000W
Main SSD: Samsung 990 EVO Plus 1TB
Secondary SSD: Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2TB
Operating system: Windows 11 Pro
Case: Antec C8
Case fans: Lian Li Uni Fan SL Wireless, Lian Li Uni Fan SL-INF
Maybe someone out here can help me with my Problem. I just built a Gaming PC with the Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi7, an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Crucial Pro OC DDR5-6000 32GB and VGA ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 7800 XT OC. So when i run a Live Linux distribution on it from an USB Stick, it works just fine, but when i try to install Windows 11 it freezes in Step "Looking for Disks", so it seems like it's missing a driver for the m2 hard drive right? I already tried the BIOS Update, a C-MOS reset, a BIOS Factory Reset and refittet the RAM, cleaned the CPU and CPU Socket and looked for bent pins, but everything seems completely normal except every time it freezes the Error Code 22 on the Mainboard.
Maybe someone has or had the same issue and knows how to fix it
Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC.

When I experienced issues with installing Windows 11, I created a bootable USB stick for Windows 10, installed that, and then used the update tool Microsoft provides to update to windows 11. Maybe that does the trick for you.
Built a new rig recently and replaced everything except the GPU, SSD, and HDD slave. Was working fine for a month until today.
Was doing my usual gaming and my computer starting whacking out and this screen popped up.

then this when i tried restarting it

then it turned off and tried to boot it up once more, and i got the debug code [22] and the VGA LED status is lit up, which means something is not right with the GPU? screenshot below from the manual.

Did some research and found out from a post that debug code [22] is a memory problem, I've tried out other sticks of RAM and code still occurs. I first started to think that it might possibly be my HDD's dying since they are at least 5+ years old. I sure hope it isn't a CPU memory controller issue. Everything has been working fine until now.
Thoughts? and possible fixes? Thanks!
Edit: Solved the issue, turned out to be a CPU problem, had RMA'd intel for replacement! New processor should do the trick.
I recently finished assembling my first PC, however it’s not outputting to my screen. Everything is plugged in correctly and secured properly and when I power it on, everything lights up and the fans spin. I then noticed that the debug screen had 22 on it. I checked the mobo manual, but it said nothing about 22.
I’ve flashed the board to be compatible with my CPU and I tried every ram combination in the slots but it’s still not working. Please help.
I don’t know about the specific error code.
However I had hella problems with my b550 board recently.
Try cleaning your ram contacts very gently with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton ball. Then make sure they are in the proper channel, don’t switch around. Confirm which is correct and seat them firmly - MAKE SURE IT CLICKS FULLY. Seriously… I’m no nub and I had bugs due to a proper seating on my ram initially.
Next, do the same with your SSD if it is an m.2. This actually turned out to be my culprit. My mobo (b550 aorus pro ac) has m.2 heat sink. Somehow, after I bolted down the m.2, while messing with the heat sink on top of it (getting it aligned and bolted) the sticky material on the heat sink actually pulled my m.2 SLIGHTLY out of its slot. Which had me in this insane buggy boot hell until I made damn sure my hardware was all clean and seated precisely.
Other issues from your description could be an incompatibility between bios version and your cpu. Make sure bios version of mobo works with your cpu, if not you may need to flash bios (I didn’t have to, but did as a part of my debugging and it seemed to only help in my case Gigabyte actually had strong recommendations to update for my mobo on their website support so I’d check your mobo website for new bios support)
Other things can be peripherals causing problems with initial booting. I’ve actually heard of systems thinking some hardware is a bootable drive… before new system is fully setup.. causing issues.
Make sure your boot drive is in GPT format not MBR if running windows 11…
Hope any of this helps, just some thoughts from my recent b550 troubleshooting shitshow. Good luck!
I just bought a asrock taichi b550 and 5800x. I had it up and running fine. Then on the second day this same issue happened to. Tried everything obvious and routine. Come to find out after a couple hours. The powered usb-c connection from my docking station was causing boot issues. Unplugged and booted fine.
I'm kinda lost on what I need to do to fix this error (22) and I can't update the bios Q-Flashing isn't lighting up and no post any ideas?
I've cleared cmos, moved ram around and nothing worked
