the 14xxx series just dropped today, apparently it's physically compatible with gen 13/12 mobos of which this one is. Will this be flashed to support Gen 14? if so, when? I was mid-build of a PC and this was the mobo of choice for a 13700k but i may need to select a different one instead if this won't be flashed to support a 14700k

check voltage settings in bios and make sure they are not on auto but in accordance with Intel specs. Gigabyte tends to send waaaaay tooo much in auto. Change PL1, PL1 TAU, PL2, CCL Amps. It would not hurt looking at your outputs with HWInfo and make sure your settings are right. Maybe worth checking and if needed correct Load Line Calibration & AC/DC Load Line settings. Also look if you have Enhanced Multi-Core Performance enabled or disabled. it should be disabled if your specs do not match PL1&PL2 settings otherwise MCP will override them. doublecheck your specs with the actual output in HWInfo because on my Gigabyte at least, "Intel Default Settings" do not always match and thus may tend to make the system unstable. Disable it if you see that is causing too many spikes or severe voltage fluctuations. Hope it helps. More on reddit.com

Guess who didn’t do enough research into their parts before picking them?
Can anyone give a reliable answer one way or another on whether the Z790M Aorus Elite AX will take a 14700?
I’ve updated the bios (at least it looks like it worked), but the system still won’t post. Not sure if I need to cut my losses and go buy a 13th gen, or if I have a faulty part somewhere. Frustratingly, I’m in a house full of PCs but they’re all old, so pretty useless for parts testing.
Please save my sanity.

You need BIOS version F7 or newer. If you have F7 or newer and it's still not doing the thing, you may have a dead part. A good way of testing would be to pick up a cheap 12th gen i3 off of eBay. If it doesn't work, the board is dead, if it does work, you can use the i3 to access the BIOS and make sure it's updating properly.
