By optimizing memory trace width, length and style from HPC simulation to actual implementation, overall impedance is lowered between CPU memory controller and memory modules to achieve higher DDR5 speed.
Z790 UD AC BIOS for 14th gen Intel CPU
you'll need BIOS F8 - use QFlash+ to update the BIOS I looked at the CPU support list and the 14700KF is in the list More on reddit.com
Question about Z790 UD AC compatibility
and that I needed the revision 1 version for 14 compatibility what?! Z790 UD AC has only one revision 1.0: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z790-UD-AC-rev-10#kf you can use QFlash+ to update the BIOS without a CPU, RAM or video card; then you can put them in and POST the system More on reddit.com
Why is this motherboard significantly cheaper than other ones that seem comparable?
Just looking at the things I notice: MSI board comes with M.2 heatsinks for four ports. Gigabyte board has three total M.2 ports, and heatsink for only one. MSI board has a much beefier chipset heatsink MSI has much beefier VRM cooling Both support BIOS flashback (not sure why you'd need it on a Z790 board, but nice to have, I guess), MSI has a clear CMOS button, as opposed to a jumper that has to be tripped (or pulling the CMOS battery) in the event you need to clear it MSI rear port selection is far more robust. The MSI board features an additional (10Gb/s) USB-C port, an additional 3x USB Type A 3.2 Ports, MSI has Intel Wifi 6E as opposed to Realtek Wifi 5 MSI has Bluetooth 5.3 vs 4.1 on the Gigabyte MSI has Intel 2.5GbE LAN vs Realtek MSI has more fan headers (possibly more LED/RGB connectors - I'm not counting those across the two boards) MSI has 7 SATA ports to the Gigabyte's six MSI probably has more robust on-board RGB/lighting MSI arguably has the better looking board between the two. All of those mean that MSI thinks their board is worth an increase of ~60% in cost. I can say this: the performance of whatever CPU and GPU you install on the two should be more-or-less the same. Are all of those features worth the increase? Tough to say. It probably wouldn't be for me. More on reddit.com
why does the top comment call this z790 s a bad mobos? I thought z790s were near high range mobos
Z790 is just one chip on the board (that determines a lot, but not all), there are still many others parts that can vary in quality. That particular Z790 is kind of a budget option. So parts like VRM (important for performance and overclocking) might be something they cheaped out on, limiting potential overclocking. That is in general, I don't know the specifics for this motherboard. More on reddit.com

r/gigabyte on Reddit: Z790 UD AC BIOS for 14th gen Intel CPU
December 26, 2023 -
Hi There,
I am looking to purchase a Gigabyte Z790 UD AC motherboard sold/supplied by Amazon US, for use in Australia with a 14th gen Intel Core i7 14700kf (noted as a supported cpu on the motherboard's webpage).
Are there any tutorials on how to update the bios for this particular model, to support 14th genration chips. And will the warranty still be effective if ordered through Amazon US directly (not from a third-party seller)?
Thanks!
