There are plugins that allow you to use other AI assistants (OpenAI ChatGPT, Bard, Microsoft Copilot, etc.) But yeah, Github Copilot is undoubtedly helpful. More on reddit.com

Two days ago, GitHub announced, that certain models like Sonnet 4.5 are not available under student or free trial plans. I started using copilot 2 weeks ago (have never used it before) and also added billing data etc. More on reddit.com

Hey everyone,
I saw some confusion about GitHub Copilot recently, especially since it became a paid service. Thought I’d clarify and share my experience — it might help students here.
If you're a verified college student, you can get GitHub Copilot (the AI code assistant from GitHub) completely free through the GitHub Student Developer Pack, which is partnered with Microsoft.
✅ No credit card needed
✅ Works with just your college/university email
✅ Valid until the end of your 4th year
It will take a while for it to be verified, here’s what you’ll have access to after all of that :

GitHub Copilot (AI pair programmer that writes code with you in VS Code, JetBrains, or your browser)

$100 in Azure Credits (can be used to deploy apps, test backend stuff, or experiment with cloud services)

Yep it worked, thanks a lot!! Although, it says approved on github, but I got nothing in my uni mail inbox. How long did it take to receive yours? It's been an hour or two for me and still nothing.
