GitHub Copilot 9x price increase for Claude models
They’re moving all enterprise customers from fixed (and heavily subsidized) plans to APIs. That’s a flex by anthropic in my book. More on reddit.com

Copilot pro pricing, what’s the catch?
You can only ask questions that are coding related. With chatgptplus you can ask anything. And you have things like advanced voice mode. More on reddit.com

GitHub Copilot’s recent pricing/model changes feel like more than a normal price increase to me.
For personal use, it's too much for me so I'm moving onto something else (TBD but I'm willing to use Chinese models like deep seek). For work, my company is sticking with Copilot because trust and security are big factors and Copilot is still cheaper than hiring more engineers. More on reddit.com

The new Copilot pricing makes zero sense. Why am I paying $39/mo for $39 in expiring API credits?
I agree — if there is a monthly fee, one should get more for it than just the equivalent in tokens. Because otherwise, as you rightly say, you can just buy tokens. So, GitHub’s move from what essentially was a flat rate to consumption-based billing (also given that you loose the unused tokens at the end of the month) is effectively a substantial price increase. Sadly, GitHub apparently will go even further: according to some posts here on Reddit, they will substantially increase the PRU cost of querying the premium models. More on reddit.com

What are the differences between the GitHub Copilot Business, GitHub Copilot Enterprise, and GitHub Copilot Individual plans?

GitHub Copilot has multiple offerings for organizations and an offering for individual developers. All the offerings include both inline suggestion and chat assistance. The primary differences between the organization offerings and the individual offering are license management, policy management, and IP indemnity.

Organizations can choose between GitHub Copilot Business and GitHub Copilot Enterprise. GitHub Copilot Business primarily features GitHub Copilot in the coding environment - that is the IDE, CLI and GitHub Mobile. GitHub Copilot Enterprise includes everything in GitHub Copilot Business. It also  adds an additional layer of customization for organizations and integrates into GitHub.com as a chat interface to allow developers to converse with GitHub Copilot throughout the platform. GitHub Copilot Enterprise can index an organization’s codebase for a deeper understanding of the customer’s knowledge for more tailored suggestions and will offer customers access to fine-tuned custom, private models for inline suggestions.

GitHub Copilot Individual is designed for individual developers, freelancers, students, educators, and open source maintainers. The plan includes all the features of GitHub Copilot Business except organizational license management, policy management, and IP indemnity.

GitHub Copilot enables developers to focus more energy on problem solving and collaboration and spend less effort on the mundane and boilerplate. GitHub Copilot is moving to usage-based billing · community · Discussion #192948
1 month ago - With usage-based billing, we’re replacing PRUs with a new unit called GitHub AI Credits, which are based on the tokens your interactions consume and priced according to the listed API rates per model. All features aside from code completions and Next Edit Suggestions, which remain unlimited, will be measured and billed in GitHub AI Credits. Your monthly bill will include both the total cost of your token usage and Actions minutes consumption. Additionally, Copilot code review recently moved to an agentic architecture that runs on GitHub Actions, and starting June 1, 2026, reviewing a pull request with Copilot will count against your included Actions minutes at the same per-minute rates as any other Actions workflow.

r/ClaudeAI on Reddit: GitHub Copilot 9x price increase for Claude models
2 weeks ago -

So it seems that GitHub Copilot is increasing their costs by 900% for Claude models starting in June:

See https://docs.github.com/en/copilot/reference/copilot-billing/models-and-pricing#model-multipliers-for-annual-copilot-pro-and-copilot-pro-subscribers for the details, and https://github.blog/news-insights/company-news/github-copilot-is-moving-to-usage-based-billing/ for the full press release with all their fancy words trying to hide that it’s just a 900% increase.

Has anyone tried the new official Claude Plugin for VSCode? Is it any good? Does it still allow me to have it work in my full project and see what the agent has done and accept/reject the change (which is all I really want…). I’m thinking about moving from Copilot Pro+ to either Claude Pro or Max 5x…
