Need help finding a tabletop TV stand that does NOT have a tempered glass base and can hold an 80 lbs TV (77 inch OLED)
I couldn’t place a center channel speaker with that. But thanks for trying 😅

I’m going from a house I own (so I have wall mounts) to a rental where I’m not allowed to install wall mounts. I would like to get a universal TV stand that would hold my 77 inch OLED high enough off the furniture to place a large center channel speaker (9 inches tall). My idea was to get one of these and basically bolt it to the furniture (cheap furniture; I don’t mind drilling holes).
The problem is that all of these seem to have a base made out of tempered glass. Every single popular one has at least one review of the base completely shattering, even without any modification . I could bolt it down without drilling through the base by using some brackets, but I’d much rather avoid all potential problems with glass and be able to drill right through the base.
I’ve been scouring the internet and I can’t find a single solution. The ONE stand I’ve found with a wood base can only handle up to 80 lbs, yet my 77 inch OLED weighs almost exactly 80 LBS, so I’m nervous about using that stand. Things are rarely rated honestly and I don’t feel comfortable being right on the edge like that.
Does anyone know of any options? I don’t mind modifying the base in the form of drilling holes. In an ideal world, there would be a stand that is already designed for bolting/drilling into a tabletop, but again, I don’t mind making this modification myself. I just want to avoid tempered glass!
Thanks for the help! 🙂
