It's been talked about, that there will be another round of head-cutting right after July 4th shutdown. Wait for it. They are targetting all the older workers that have survived over the years. Mostly from Warren Technical Center. MPG claims to be leaned enough right now.

GM does not pay enough to follow the Meta way of hire and fire. The workplace culture created by this “revamped” SLT has led to a self inflicted cultural suicide. What is the end goal?

You do everything right, spend years in school, master complex skills, give your best day after day, only to be judged by managers who built their careers on politics, not competence. You’re constantly evaluated, ranked, second-guessed, not based on your impact, but on how well you play the game. And the worst part? Speaking up is a risk. Excellence doesn’t protect you, optics do. Honestly, the ones getting laid off aren’t the victims. They’re the ones finally being set free, while the shit show, backstabbing and rat race continue

GM laying off hundreds of workers as Chevrolet Camaro, Bolt production end
December 14, 2023 - GM anticipates having job opportunities for all impacted team members at the Lansing plant, too, in accordance to provisions of the UAW-GM contract, Kelly said. "Lansing Grand River Assembly informed employees today that the plant will adjust staffing levels due to the end of Camaro production," Kelly said. "Lansing Grand River Assembly will continue producing the Cadillac CT4 and Cadillac CT5." The state also published the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification for the previously announced temporary layoffs at Stellantis NV's Mack Assembly Plant in Detroit, blaming the move "in part" to comply with California emissions regulations that has the automaker only shipping ordered non-plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee and Wrangler SUVs to California and other states that follow its emissions regulations.

December 15, 2023 - The Orion Assembly plant in Orion Township, Mich., will bear the brunt of the cuts, with 945 workers facing layoffs as the facility winds down production of the Chevrolet Bolt and will be retooled to manufacture electric trucks. Another 369 employees at the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant, in Lansing, Mich., will also lose their job as production of the Camaro, a muscle car synonymous with Detroit’s golden age, sunsets. GM had previously announced it would end production of the Camaro in January 2024, before deciding to end production about a month earlier in December.
